Default Moron on ebay

So I am looking at an OLD PC to replace a matching one I own that will not boot up. The unit has the hard drive removed and the seller has a screen shot of the BIOS screen. I asked him if he has ever had it boot up fully. His reply, "You are confused, the machine has no hard drive. It will not boot up beyond the BIOS" to which I reply, "yes, I am aware that it currently has no hard drive. I have a new hard drive with a fresh Windows install. I want to be sure your will go beyond the BIOS screen if I install my new hard drive."

He says " Do not buy my machine, you have other issues if you cannot boot beyond the BIOS".

WTF?

Why don't you buy something a little more modern?

Primarily because I own so many components for the old one. I don't want to not be able to use the PCI cards, drive, sound cards, wireless etc.

Secondarily, it's 60 bucks versus $500.00+ for something new.

Well, if you knew how to boot up beyond the BIOS screen, maybe you wouldn't be so poor.

Uhhhh...what?

I have other PCs and a laptop. This one is going to be in a band practice room for the sole purpose of storing music. It does not need to be anything impressive for a bunch of smoking drunks to jack around with...but I still don't understand your post.

Used computer equipment is always a gamble. If he won't give you a straight answer, then the answer must be, he won't guarantee (and probably doesn't know) that it does anything beyond showing you the BIOS screen.
Personally, I'd be a little more patient. Set up a search with the email option set to email you daily with new items.

Nope, they are permitted to dangle in position. However, with a daughter in college and me having no self control when it comes to spending, I gave the finances to her when we got married. Since she took over, my credit score has hit an all time high so I am not about to change a thing. I like low interest rates and telling the credit card people to feck off when they want me to apply. Trust me, things are much better in her hands. I'd have more toys, but I'd be sitting in the dark with no heat too.

I know what you mean I was a spending maniac when I first got married if I a dollar in my pocket I spent it. Then, about 40 years ago after we got married the wife told me that she wanted to manage the bills and the budget, I said, have at it! It like to kill me to go back to being broke all the time.
Then about 10 years ago she told me she didn't want to do it anymore because it depressed her. I guess living for years under her tight fisted tutorship cured me of my spendthrift ways because I haven't had any problems in 10 years of budget management and still have a stellar credit report. Although the urge to spend is still there I can usually quite it by looking at a bank statement.

Isn't it odd how having money in the bank makes it harder to spend it?
