Default Need a hand figuring out the value of my truck...

Long time no post for me (I very rarely post anywhere now), but I'm in need of some opinions/advice.

I'm looking to sell my truck. I perused Hemmings for something similar and took the lazy route of posting to facebook. I saw several examples that weren't in the condition of mine in the $12,500-$13,000 range. I decided to go high on mine and see if I could get a bite at $15,200. It seems to have some interest, but no one has bit yet. I'm pretty busy for the next couple of weeks, but I plan to get serious about selling it once things slow down a little.

Any thoughts on price? Any ideas about listing/selling it? I've thought about Hemmings, and I've also thought about throwing a for sale sign on the dash and hitting a local show or two to see what happens. I've attached a few pictures to show the overall condition of the truck here, but I have 20+ posted to the actual ad. I've copied and pasted my ad below.

1972 F100 Sport Custom
99,228 original miles (may increase slightly)
clean Georgia title in hand

The truck is powered by a 360 cubic inch Ford FE big block V8 with a 3 speed column shift manual transmission. It was purchased new from Henderson Ford in Chesnee, South Carolina and has spent the entirety of its life in South Carolina and Georgia. I have documentation from the in service date of November 1971 to present which includes the following:
-delivery sheet
-original owner's manual
-warranty card
-South Carolina inspection certificates
-parts receipts

The VIN tag on the door denotes the following info:
F-100 2WD
360 cid, 8-cyl
Nov. 1971, Norfolk, VA assembly
long wheelbase truck
F102, 4800 GVW
Sport Custom medium red and dark red vinyl, Styleside Pickup
3 speed Ford manual 3.00 rear gear ratio
Charlotte district code, order #7024 (which matches the delivery sheet)

There are three previous known owners and to the best of my knowledge, I'm the 4th owner. I bought the truck last year and have added 916 miles. The truck runs and drives great. The only issue (if you want to call it one) is that the turn signal doesn't reset on a right turn. That is the one and only thing that doesn't work on the entire truck. It has a Motorcraft battery that is dated 3/17 and was installed by the previous owner. The tires are like new 265/75/15 (Cooper Discoverer) that are mounted on American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. The wheels are clean and free of any curb rash or other defects. All glass is in good condition with no cracks or chips, and as far as I know all original. The interior shows very little wear and unlike many trucks of this era, the door panels and dash are completely intact. There is currently an AM/FM radio with auxiliary input in the truck that is patterned after the original AM radio. I do have the original radio, but I'm unsure if it works or not. I also have the bumper "push bars" in hand. A matching console/armrest by Classic Consoles has been added, but it requires no modification to the original seat.

First off, that's a really nice truck. I like it a lot.

I'm certainly no expert on the value of trucks of that vintage with those options etc, but I would suggest asking more for it than you actually want. That way you have some negotiating power.

Also, be prepared for tire kickers and low ballers. Selling old stuff is different than newer cars/trucks. Good luck.

Nice ride! Needs spinners, curb feelers and some neon lights but it's still righteous.

Really nice ride, sir. A short bed is generally preferred and brings a better premium but I would say you're pretty close on price.

Here's what I see in your photos...
It is a long bed; not so desirable.
It does not have a 4 speed.
In the open door shots there is some bubbling in the rocker panels which appears at odds with the glossy exterior.
You make no mention of air conditioning so I assume there is none; and this is Georgia after all.
No engine shots; is the engine bay as clean as the rest of the truck?

All that said I think 13-15K is not ridiculous for a clean survivor type truck of that vintage; except the bed length might hinder getting the upper end of that range.
Good luck with your sale.

I think you're in Kennessaw?

Trucks are hot now and for the last few years. You need to push the originality, big block, rust free, and docs. I know it's exempt, but you also need to tell them clear title in your hand. Out of state people won't even consider it without a title anymore.

Keep it priced a tad high and a true buyer will look at it and negotiate on price. Tire kickers will just keep walking. Be sure to put in OBO.

Canton/Poor Boys Car Club use to have a great cruise night every 3rd Sat. but it just about died out...down to 20 cars. They last one of the year WILL be coming up in Oct. I sold my '65 Corvette there years ago and also bought it there.

I've had good luck with CL and FB Marketplace. Just make sure to get the right keywords in your add for full exposure to buyers.

Great looking truck!

Not sure what caused the spots on the rockers. The metal under and around the spots is nice and solid.

No A/C which isn't a ton of fun in June/July/August in Georgia.

Added an engine bay shot here.

I'm actually in NE Georgia. To me the title adds a bit of value here. Not many local older cars have anything other than a BOS and there's no way of knowing if the odometer has rolled or not. I'm pushing the fact that my paperwork documents the truck. The title isn't shown here, but the following pics give an idea of what I have. I also have another envelope full of parts receipts through the years.

I believe you have a solid truck and well documented. You will not have a problem getting $15k for it IMHO. You are just going to have to put up with the time wasters. This was the only reason I did not put my Vette up for sale this year. I am not ready for that yet!

My father bought a very similar truck to yours in 1970. Man, that truck was the best. What I would give to have it now. It's probably met the crusher by now (think Virginia rust), but oh well. Your truck is a beauty. Good luck with the sale. Not knowing the value, but just a guess from me says 18-22K. That of course is with absolutely no research.
