Yamma, jeebus, Dixie just bought a VW van, new smoker, Alaska trip, priorities?

He's got the cash, have him open the wallet a bit, you only get married the first time once, make it memorable.

I haven't read the other posts but here's what Mary & I did.

We invited the parents and the only living grandparent to our wedding. That's it, no brothers, sisters, cousins or friends.

We went to York Maine and got married where the York River flows out into the Atlantic Ocean. Here Small Boutique Resort Hotel on the Ocean in York Harbor Maine

Cost was affordable, no extra drama and it was exactly how WE wanted our ceremony.

We left Maine and had a week long honeymoon in the Bahamas

We had a huge formal wedding. It was great. Her parents paid for it so I cannot complain about the cost. The wedding is really for the guests and the families though.

I told my daddy and his (soon to be) wife, Sue, that they could avoid all the questions of who to invite to their wedding by only inviting their kids and grandkids and noone else.

I guess they thought that would hurt some feelings or was just too much trouble. I'm not sure. But they called the justice of the peace, and a friend of Sue's from the courthouse, from when she (Sue) was clerk of court, and they both came over. The JP married them, and the friend signed as a witness.

I guess when the bride and groom are both 72, they do what they want!!!

The JP and a witness route would definitely be low cost, Yamma!

I always thought running away somewhere and doing the deed, then coming home and throwing a big Announcement party is the way to go. Kinda like having the honeymoon first, then the celebration! You could even have cake!

It was an easy choice for us to get married at the courthouse...one because this is our courthouse...

And two because I did not want to deal with my Mormon side of the family at my wedding.

Less than $1k for us...not including my rings.

That's kind of the page I'm on. Destination wedding. Just immediate family. I bought the stinking dress a month after we met - $700 dress and I managed to get it for $150 - I'm determined to do the whole event as cheap as possible.

I'm shooting for a cheap beach wedding, but HAVE to have a good photographer. I'd rather a ridiculously simple beach wedding and fork out $2k for the best photos I can imagine. Then a nice dinner. Big reception will be in nashville with all family and friends.....
If y'all decide to do destin I have several friends who are excellent photographers who would gladly make that trip over.

This is where the cool kids hang.

I think that if you did Elope, you could still host nice reception for your friends and families.

My wife and I were married in Bogota, Colombia. Not a lot of people went to the wedding. So we had a reception in the US for friends and family to attend. It was a lot more low key,no favors or crap like that. It was really more like a house party.

we were extremely fortunate to be able to have a big formal wedding. But if it was coming out of my own pocket it would have been us, elvis and a vegas drive through.

Whatever you do, don't let the event make you take your eye off the ball. The actual wedding is you and your wife commiting the rest of your lives to each other. Don't let stress about the ceremony get inthe way of that.

Never, I have the best friend, lover, fiancee, and soon the best wife anyone could ever ask for.
