Default Even the stupid can buy a Vette

Ya know, I'm really concerned about this country. I've always said 8 out of 10 people are idiots...now I've increased it to 9 of 10.

I had an ad in CF, Ebay and CL trying to sell my C6Z wheels/tires, some 17" Hoosiers etc. I'm very explicate in my ads, trying to leave the potential buyer/reader nothing to ask. It's all out there, you have the info, either buy or move on.

From CF alone, I recieved 10 PMs in a week, and only 1 didn't ask me a question that wasn't already in the ad. The ad stated the wheel/tire size & brand, offset, non runflat, no sensors, direct fitment and correct oversized tires to fit exact C5 (non Z) vehicles. It included pictures from various angles.

Here's some of the PMs I got

Do they come with sensors?
Are they runflats?
Are these direct bolt on?
Under high speeds, do you experience wobble?
Will these rub my fenders?
Do they stick out of the fenders?
Can you email me pictures?

I wanted to tell 'wobble' guy- "Why Yes, I have 19's on my Beamer, 18's on my C4, 20's on my F150 and I always tell the tire shop to balance my wheels so I can feel a nice speed wobble at 75mph"

Sorry, rant over. Wheels are sold. I hope I never have to deal with the American General population again. I'm moving to Iceland!

I'm sure Sweetsie will appreciate the company. Iceland, land of ice- no difference, right?

If you want to REALLY deal with the intellectually challenged, list something on Craigslist some time. Between the scammers and the mental midgets, you'll be lucky to find 1% of your respondents are worth your time.

I did, but at least you can tell the spam from humans wanting to buy.

"is item still available?"

The Lowest Common Denominator has now come into his own. This is the age where he and mediocrity are elevated and celebrated. As a misanthrope, I hate them all.

"wow man, you kept up with me, your C4 most be highly modified"

My response:

"You need to punch that thing, you were on my way"

I have a stack of things in the garage that should be sold, but what I'll probably do is try to trade parts car people for other things I need.

Selling some items is just too much work. I should cut my losses and throw out the low value stuff.

Here's an example of one item I will probably be a dick about: Guy back east wants some real decent 12 yr old GY GS-C tires for a ZR-1 he probably wants to do NCRS shows with. I don't want to strap them together and bring them to UPS. I mean I only want $40 per. There's a vette recycler/parts guy 10 miles away who has other stuff I want. I'll try to trade with him maybe.

Or how about the 2002 wrx console lid I never threw out (it has like 50 miles on it)- could be a good deal for some guy with a 10 yr old 'baru who tore his up...not a peep on CL- may as well toss that too.

I know a guy with a screen name on the Subaru forum that could cause all kinds of turmoil with that.

I did that once and it cost the buyer $47 per tire to ship. It was a PITA

It's strange, I had these on CF for a month, nothing. Then this past Thursday, 4 people within minutes wanted to buy them.

Speaking of shipping, I don't know WTF UPS/Fedex is doing, but they are almost double what the good ol' post office cost.

To ship my 4 tires/rims (19/18s) to Mass. cost $235 Parcel Post. UPS/Fedex were $380.

I also sold a pair of Hoosiers 315/35/17s- Strap them together and it's $104 USPS, ship them seperatly and it's $18 to Washington, $22 to Texas and $28 to NY.

I only had them on CL, hadn't made the move to CF as I really didn't want to screw with shipping, but I had done my research just in case.
