Default How often do you spend time with friends?

How often do you actually go out and spend time with your friends?

I'm at that stage in life where most of my friends are married and starting a family. Obviously, we spend a lot less time together now than we did before. Some friends still make an effort to remain social while some friends completely disappear.

Also, for the married people, how often do you go out with your friends without your S.O.?

Not often enough.

My best friend lives in No.Michigan 5 hours away.

Too much work and not enough play here at home...

The vast majority of my friends are married. Unfortunately I am not able to get together with them and their spouse often enough but that is due to work schedules more than anything else.

I'm fortunate enough where one of my best friends is also my gym workout partner, so I see him about 4 times a week at the gym. We usually have dinner with his family about once every week or two as well.

I've never been one to have a lot of friends.
I have 3 people I call true friends and are the ones I would take a bullet for and they would likewise.

Trouble is they are all married with kids.

I never knew being the 3rd wheel was so depressing.

Well, I go out and shoot pool usually once a week with my best friend, but he's also my younger brother. I go to the range every three or four weeks with either the same brother or my son (occasionally the gf or her boys). I go out to dinner once a week or so with my mom, too. When we have cookouts these are also the same people that attend (with their spouses and kids).
These are my closest friends, but also closely related. I don't know if that counts or not. I do feel lucky that some of my family are also my closest friends.

I have 3 "best friends"

1) my wife. serious.
2) my dad, he lives 1000 miles away, but we speak weekly...and see each other every year or so.
3) my best bud, he lives in my dad's town...see #2 above.

And I have a pretty large group of casual friends here on the coast...many work related. Also, we are members of the local parrothead club, we party with a purpose.

And we effin' tore it up Saturday.

I play racquetball with friends 3 times per week and race with different friends 2 times per month. I play softball once a week with still more friends. Where's the choice for multiple times per week?

My friends are extremely important to me. As an only child, I know my friends are as close to brothers and sisters as I will get. It has caused friction on occasion but my friendships have outlasted all my relationships so I when the time came for me to marry, I married someone that IS my friend and gets along with my friends. I am in a band so I get to see friends with and without my wife all the time. When I have a weekend off, we go have dinner with another couple or go to a movie. We are vacationing together this year. This past weekend I was with the guys and my wife was fine with it. Friends are important to both of us so we don't restrict each other from spending time with them together or apart.

You can pick and choose your friends but not your family

5 of us since kindergarten, 6 of us since grade school, little league baseball, driver's license, under aged drinking, dating, party's, proms, HS graduation.

We went our seperate ways: College; Military; War; Family, Employment and all combinations thereof.

4-5 yrs ago the brother of one talked to a couple of us about some "issues."

A few telephone calls later, we all got together.

Since then, EVERY Thursday is Boys Night Out, a noted weekly event.

Strangely enough, 5 of the 6 returned to and still live in the same town but have rarely seen each other since HS, even at Kroger's.

Thursday's is the old hen session. We picked up where we left off that many years ago. Nothing has changed & we still pi$$ & moan to and about each other as we did back then.

True friends are friends for life.

BTW - HS Graduation = 1969.

The older you get, the more nuclear your circle gets. People are busy with their own lives or success, and drift away if no effort is made to stop the drifting. I always try to stay in touch with a regular phone call at least, but as you go through life, people tend to be like passing ships in the night, drifting close then fading from view, for one reason or another. Sad but true.

During the summer, quite often. Usually, every weekend out on the river. There is generally about 12-15 of us that get together on the water, some are married, most are not (divorced), but we are all in our younger 30's.
Now that it's getting colder, won't be as much, an occasional get together for a football game or to go out.
