As I dig thru the piles of boxes while attempting to clean out the garage I keep coming up with crap from so many years ago!

Upper left, second one in: That looks familiar, some type of horn I think. I didn't have one but I think one of the neighbor kids did.

Moving to the right to the little thing surrounded by the speedo cable: A generator for lights run by the tire; my older sis had one, I did too later.

I don't think I had any of the other stuff.

Well, we had the cards and clothespins as Old Ben mentioned, of course, although not playing cards, we used baseball cards. I had Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and other players whose cards would probably be worth a lot today -- but they all were used on the bicycle spokes.

Younger than me I think. Everyone here is except for Old Ben and one or two other peeps.

But why do you have that stuff?

I was the youngest of three, and when I left home in '72 my mom threw out everything we didn't want -- which would have included all that ^ stuff.

Way back when I had a bike called the Royal Crown it had a 3 speed system, saddle bag hanging on the back of the seat, head light, horn, real skinny tires and a tubular air pump that mounted to the frame. A rather decent bike for the time!

Hmmmm, why you ask.....

It's all a disease from my childhood I'd say....So many things in the garage were given to me from clients while working on their homes. Then this old house was filled with 100 years of "stuff". So many antiques and collectibles....Might be a better idea for me to post a thread then keep adding to it as i come up with something of interest?

My wife wants everything gone, and I want the 79 pick up inside the building!

Problem is, I can't just throw anything good away....

We had decades worth of "stuff" we never looked at or used, and the kids didn't want, when we decided to move to FL in 2019. It wasn't easy at first but we finally got rid of a whole lot of stuff we had to admit we would never use again. Some got sold, some got thrown away, and some got given away. We have no regrets and have not said even one time "Gee, we should have kept that."

We do hope that our middle son will take over the estate from us. This has me holding onto stuff too, knowing he will have to deal with it!

But yes sir we are unloading, I'm making several piles....some to the dump, some gifts, some for sale...

We've told our two kids that we're going to try hard to spend every penny of our retirement savings, but that the house here, the cars, and everything else is theirs to split when we die.

My older sis had a similar bike, they were called an "English" or something. Hand brakes that clamped on the rims, speed mechanism was inside the rear hub, skinny tires. Hers did not have the air pump, although I remember seeing them elsewhere.
