My daughter's car - burned to a crisp

My daughter's 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited caught fire today while I was driving it to my house to detail it. I'm pretty sure it was an electrical fire because the car several electrical issues that Jeep couldn't duplicate or resolve. The digital dashboard and the UConnect screens would go blank and wouldn't come back on unless the car was shut off and then restarted. It would also just die when stopped at a red light. It would restart right away, but it continued to do the same thing. Today, as I was driving it, the dashboard and UConnect screens went blank, came back on in a few seconds, and then went blank again. Then, I could feel the engine misfiring as though it was running out of gas, and then smoke started pouring out of the lower dashboard. I was able to pull off the side of the road and then I saw fire and black smoke coming from under the hood. I called 9-1-1 and the fire department and police arrived in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I inhaled quite a bit of smoke and now I can't stop coughing. I'm seeing my PCP tomorrow. I'm just glad my daughter wasn't driving and my grandchildren weren't in the car!

I just bought a new car, but I ended up going back to a Honda. I did look at a Ford Explorer ST but the dealer was not interested in making a deal so I ended up and bought a Honda Pilot Elite.

My wife and I had 2 previous Honda's that worked flawlessly. A 2005 Honda Accord which we traded in with over 120k, and a 2013 Honda CRV that we still have with over 105k on the clock.

Glad everyone is ok bud. Vehicles are replaceable...family is not.

Damn. Glad you're ok and hope everything checks out with your doctor. Couldn't tell you how many times I wished my WK would have caught fire. I'm guessing Jeep won't be on the short list for your daughter's next vehicle.
