WWII vet that worked for Pappy Boyington
In the pic, well, obviously you know me, but the other fellow is Grover Sassaman. He was a mechanic with Pappy's outfit. He owns the oldest Harley dealership in the state of Georgia. It is always interesting to talk to him, and I've known him for about 30 years. Thought you WWII buffs would like this.
Click on the link, not the stupid picture of socks or whatever they are. Link is jacked. https://www.13wmaz.com/article/news/...4-42e07d4a713f |

Read that when the series, Ba Ba Black Sheep, came out. The real men from the unit that fought in WWII resented the fact that that whole unit was shown as a bunch of misfits.
They claim the only misfit in the unit was Pappy Boyington. He was a nasty, belligerent, drunk. That said, they claim he was a great combat leader and they would follow him anywhere. |

By the way, Grover sold Gregg Allman his Sportster. You just can't get much more history than that.

My father was on Guadalcanal with him. I doubt they knew each other. The air cover was a big help in keeping Marines alive.
