Yes. Note these are smokeless cartridges so the "70" (black powder grains) is omitted.

That old stuff is $$$. Like $400 and up per box. I have a couple of boxes of UMC 44-40 from pre-1893 and a couple boxes of .44-40 blanks for 'moving pictures' from about 1915.
The guy I got them from had tons of old ammo but sold it at auction for peanuts. He even had original tape primers for his original 1855 .58 Dragoon pistol and original paper Sharp's cartridges and rimfire Spencer and Henry cartridges, etc. Wonderful, historic old stuff.

I have over a 100 rounds of 32.40 ammo. Some of its quite old and in original boxes and some is the more modern stuff from about 40 years ago in a special run.

I still have my 1898 made Winchester 94 rifle that uses that ammo. Really hate to have a gun I do not have ammo for!

You can load .32 40. I would not shoot the original ammo as it is too valuable. It will shoot, no problem, I guarantee it, but it's too rare to. I reload black powder .38-40 and .44-40 for a couple of 1880's lever guns.

The older rounds of course are corrosive primed. The more modern ones are clean. They are John Wayne Commemoratives I have seen prices for a pristine J.W. box go for between $50 to $100 a 20 round box.

The last time I shot the old Winchester was about 40 years ago. I used the older corrosive ammo. I was firing the 25'' barreled rifle at the 100 yard range. That round originally was a target round and it still has good accuracy. The funny thing about it was I was shooting full bench-rest and you could fire the rifle pick your head up and see the paper rip.

The original rounds were all loaded low pressure from the factory because of a lot of older beat up subpar guns out there. (mostly single shots!)

Do you have an .41 Short RF you'd part with? I have a single round for an old Derringer.

Here's some of my older stuff....The .45 Staynless dates from 1927 and was the stuff used in Thompson machine guns as well as 1911's in the gangster era. Click image for larger version
