I like to make a burger patty, then wrap 2 strips of bacon around criss-crossed then cook.

I like to grind my own hamburger fresh, using a combination of chuck roast and sirloin steak. Also chuck and pork shoulder or butt works great. Once you do that, you'll have a hard time going back to the stuff they sell at the supermarket.

Use a third lean ground pork to your beef/spice mix, and Montreal steak spice is superb on most meats, but, remember about half of it is coarse salt, so easy does it. I only use it on one side of burgers or steaks.

I season the ground beef with some Worcester sauce, hot sauce, and Montreal. I put some diced onions in an aluminum foil pouch and drizzle them with some pancake syrup. They go on the grill over indirect heat.

My standard burger adornments, from top to bottom:

Top bread/bun with a tbsp of ketchup spread on it
Caramelized onions (as described above)
American cheese
Burger
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Layer of bread 'n' butter pickles
Avocado (spread on bottom bun/bread like butter, helps pickles stick)
Bottom bun/bread

I will probably make this tasty (and surprisingly low calorie if you choose your ingredients wisely) half pound burger on Monday or Tuesday night, if I remember to I'll post some pics.

Don't buy low fat hamburger. Keep turning them frequently on the grill and don't over cook them.

Last night's dinner, as promised a few posts back:

96/4 patties, seasoned and ready to go on the grill:

Burgers with cheese and onions, hot off the grill:

Assembling the condiments:

I trim the end off of the patties a bit, then make 1 big sandwich:

Cut it in half and you've got 2 burgers:

What's wrong with lower fat ground beef?

Per 4 oz serving:

80/20 = 300 cal
85/15 = 240 cal
93/7 = 170 cal
96/4 = 150 cal

Personally, I'd rather be able to eat twice as much burger.
