Default When did we become such a self-centered society??
I work with PC/VoIP all day long and really do enjoy what we can do with data nowadays, and the possibilities going forward, but recently I am really wishing the Internet would self-implode and all this self-centered, 15-minute of fame shit would go away..


here's this lovely story from Mexico about a 19-year old who is going on a self-imposed hunger strike, just to get an invite to the upcoming Royal Wedding. Don't people understand it's not all about you and why would two people who never met you or heard of you invite you to one of their most special,personal day?

A LONG time ago. Every commercial: "Be yourself!" "It's all about you!" etc.

It's never supposed to be like that.

Personally, I take it as far as "If you're the master of your world, you aren't living life correctly." I'm dead serious too. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS be accountable to someone that you regard as "above you" (mentor, father, etc). If you don't have anyone like that...not good.

Live life how you want, but my life - and everyone (literally) that I know who chooses to live like that - is BETTER because of it. I don't make stupid, selfish choices because I will ALWAYS have to answer to someone I respect.

She wont. Hunger strikes come from the heart. This is more of a cry for help. I compare this "hunger strike" to what's going on in WI. Some H.S chic had a sign that said bring the Egyptian army I'm not moving. I'm like oh really. You are comparing what you are doing to what the Egyptians went through.

As to the OP's when did we become a self centered society. This happened when internet came about with social networks and forums openly discuss what's on peoples minds that they didn't have the balls to say in person.
