Free photo editing program for Win 7

I miss using photoshop that I had on my XP computer.
Even though it was Photoshop 7 it still did what I wanted it to do.
It doesn't seem to work on Win 7.

Any free programs that will let me do things like play with layers, and the tools PS has.

Are you referring to adobe photoshop? It's photoshop 5 and it works just fine on my win7.

I've been using Paint.net for about 5 years, it is upgrade all the time. Not a slick as Photoshop, but it is free.

To try for 30 days, that's about it. Are you referring to paintshop, that used to be free, you still may be able to find an older one free.

ALL I care about is reducing these stupid 10 MEG pix size down tho maybe 300k whatEVER enough to show some pix on the net, and not have them kicked back by the sites as too large or what EVER.....every one of them to be automatically done as a .jpg.....why? because .jpg works.....not interested in any other format, they all suck....

this shit way outta control these daze, there are nice asspects of having more power, but occupying space just for the sake of taking up room is just stupid....

so the ultimate to ME as end user is to keep files down to something USEFUL...not some geeks' idea of perfection....


all else is a waste of my TIME....why should I fiddly **** with crap?? 99% of the users are on MY side....

Well screw me into the dark ages, I thought 5 was their latest release. You learn something new every day, never invest in the stock market. Just went to Adobe's website, I'm using CS5 which is their latest version in that particular category. i have no idea what photoshop 7 is or what it even does.

LOL! There has been versions 1 through 7 which stopped in 2002.
Than Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 and now we are in CS5.

Maybe that's where you are getting things mixed up.
