The UNCF doesn't give grants or scholarships to individuals, they fund colleges and universities to which people of any race can go.

I'm fed up with all this PC bullshit. People don't like something and pull the race card over everything. Fook em, they can all kiss my ass!
If that is the case why do people somewhat regularly ask my wife that was born in NY but who's parents immigrated from China where she is from? Then when she says NY they say "no really where are you FROM?"

If you want people to be "American or not" maybe some people should not make them feel like outsiders when they are actually naturalized citizens.

I can't go two months without some ignorant asshole in Home Depot or Target saying my girls look "exotic" and ask what their nationality is. My answer is always American. You would be shocked by the number of people that persist and ask again with different wording... If you don't want stupid answers don't ask stupid ****ing questions.

It all depends on how far you're willing to look back...

If you're white, you are also not "originally" from America but you might be able to trace your roots back to the founding of the USA in its modern form.

Personally i'm interested in both a person's heritage and upbringing and i think it's a shame for people to lose track of their heritage

So she was born in NY, and her parents are from China? Then she's an American, and her parents are Chinese. Simple as that. My point is if you were born in this country, you are not of a different nationality. You are American. Not "something American".
As for ignorant people asking about your kids, thinking if they word it different they'll get a different answer, that's their stupidity.
You have a fine looking American family. Pretty wife, beautiful children. Fk what idiots say.

Truth.
You hardly ever hear people say they are Irish American, Italian American, German American......
You'll hear people say, "I'm from Scottish/Irish/Polish/whatever decent", or something like that.
Be proud of your heritage, remember where your ancestors came from, but don't forget where YOU come from.
If more people took as much pride in being American as they of their family's decent, this country would be a helluva lot better off.

One of our engineers is Japanese decent, and he really looks like the stereotype. Every now and then we get someone from another plant or office that will do the old worn out "talk loud and slow" to him. They are always embarrassed when they hear his southern drawl.

I'd love to live in the states some day, but not at the moment in it's current state of affairs! I have cousins in Santa Cruz and Massachusetts who i visit from time to time.

Then on the other side of the coin we have Indians calling themselves Native Americans as if all the rest of us didn't come from here. I was born here and I'm every bit as much "native" as anyone else who was.

I read online a while back in a sports article about the Redskins that it was politicians that derived the term Native American in an effort to be more politically correct. It's my understanding that the majority of that group actually prefer to be called Indians.

Found this.. All Things Cherokee: Culture Articles - What's in a Name? Indians and Political Correctness

I've heard that some people don't like to be called Yankees. So where does it all end ? Maybe it's the damn I put in front of it.

awesome pic above whitepower.

me? i'm a proud American, whose long ago ancestors wandered over from somewhere near the Dutch/German border (it's moved several times). my grandmother spoke Dutch around her kids when she wanted to say something without them understanding it. i might know 5 German words, but they wouldn't make a sentence.

yeah, i'm a mutt.

I don't know anyone who is offended by being called a cracker (or any derivation of the term).

I think it's funny, not offensive.

In fact, there isn't a disparaging term for white people that I find anything but hilarious.
