Can’t get to one. Just finished cutting and tapping into one in the attic with a splitter. No sparks or fire involved.

It's coax. very low power and if you do short the wires it's no different than putting a loop back on it. If you can't get to one end, then can you get to the main source where the signal enters your house and unplug that while you do the splice? Also, why not go to wally world or something and get a splitter? They are cheap enough.

Can’t get to where it comes into the house. We’re moving the furniture in our bedroom which will result in the TV being on the opposite wall where it is now. All of the cabling is in the attic, some under insulation. Drilling through the wall top plate and fishing the cable down for the new outlet was easy. Closest cable in the attic that I can get to easily is ~25 feet away and goes to the dining room. I cut into that cable, installed new connectors and used a splitter. Took less than an hour.

How can that be? Cable companies always install a clean demarc on the side of the house so they can disconnect your ass for non-payment. How can this demarc be inaccessible?
