What do you use in the engine compartment
There is a lot of information here, and on the web, about detailing your vehicle interior and exterior. What polishes work best and what tools are required. What products do you use under the hood?
Some of the owners must use stainless and chrome polishes by the gallon, but what about the rest of us who just want to keep their engine compartments clean and fresh. Tips and tricks are most appreciated |

For the engine compartment I just usually use the end of the bucket water/soap. Once I get done washing I pop the hood and grab the under hood sponge and wipe it down, mine has always been cleaned like this so its real easy up keep I dry it and if I want to dress it I grab some armor all spray it into a rag and wipe it down...I always get compliments on how clean my compartment is

Simple Green works great doesn't require a lot of elbow grease and leaves it looking like new.

I will lightly wash it but I don't like the shiny look so I don't use any products on anything under the hood.

I use engine degreaser to clean everything then spray it with a product called CDW-2.
Please excuse the hoodliner, it needs to be cleaned. |

I picked up my last batch at Autozone. It's hard to find at times, so when you do get some, pick up a few cans.
Another thing I like about CDW-2 is that it leaves a shine, but doesn't leave that greasy feel or collects dust. The stuff does puddle in certain areas (corvette lettering, ect), I just let it dry for a few hrs and wipe the excess. It evens out pretty nicely and doesn't leave streaks. I have a can you can have if you can't find any |
