Feel for ya. Southeast of downtown Orlando. They are building a mega apartment complex near me on Hoffner, adding further to overcrowded schools, traffic and resources already at the max. Now I am hearing that another 400 unit complex has been approved for Bumby/Curry Ford area. I am at my limit here. Been looking at east Tennessee, but have concerns regarding availablility of medical care as we are getting close to our 70s. It is also overwhelming to consider packing up a 2800 square foot house, my garage/shop and 4 cars for a move.

Once it is all gone, you will find that moving from 2800 sq to 1400 sq makes sense and is easier to do for everyone. |

Yep, Oakland used to be nice. My family was in citrus since the mid 1800's, so knew a lot of the grove areas. My parents are buried in Gotha and I can't beleive how much everything out that way has changed. I'm working on a plan, but when the heavy equipment rolled in and started ripping out the trees I've watched grow since I was 11, I figured it was better to cry on the internet than open fire on all the leaches destroying the place. Plan is to get my godforsaken cars running, then start getting rid of everything. Found an old friend who buys/ sells all sorts of stuff from junk to antiques and will probably start making stacks for him to buy up. Goodwill wants to pick and choose what they take, so to hell with them ever again. |

No violent crime, gangs, car jackings, drug houses, feral ghetto street scenes etc etc. There is one small low-lncome apartment complex accross the river that is majority filled with seniors. And everyone is armed...peacefully. Hmmmm what/who's missing in the cesus above? *Disclaimer: I question the reported "five" black folks as someone most likely playing a "joke". I've yet to see them anywhere....ever. animals > humans > uneducated minorities. The sad truth. |

Yes there are still some cheap, safe places to live, my bro-in-law lives near Muskogee, OK and its peaceful but boring as all hell and you have to go to Ft. Smith, AK for many things (medical, big purchases, etc.). And its either sleet, flooding, baking, etc for weather.
As to people exiting Florida a total BS story, last year 1,000 people A DAY were moving here and that was before last winter's brutal storms, prob 500 more a day now....trouble is they are ruining the state. |

Not directly. What's changed is there is now an acute housing shortage in many areas, driving housing costs up - especially for single-family homes. As more people get priced out of buying a house the demand for apartments goes way up, stimulating the construction of new rental units.
