I'm pretty sure the 7.2 million crossing at the Southern border are a subset of the 8.7 million nationwide. The other 1.5 million got in other ways, like crossing the border with Canada, which is becoming much more common.

I dealt with some of this in my Federal career and yes, once the border is "tightened up" in one area the border crossings shift to other areas. "Coyotes" figure it out pretty quickly.

The strength of the dollar, plays a big role in this invasion, at least as an incentive for the invaders. Next time you see a bunch of Mexicans busting their asses on a roof, remember, the dollars they earn here have a whole lot more purchasing power there (Mexico).

While ICE has arrested some who have committed crimes against children, cities in Texas are dealing with other crimes that can be associated with the border crisis.
Texas Scorecard previously reported on the city of Fort Worth seeing a 21 percent increase in human trafficking cases.
