When I started out, I worked for small, privately held engineering companies. Very few women, and let's just say that the few that were there, were not interested in anything I had to offer. So, no.

My sister married a guy she worked with at one of the big accounting firms. In April they will have their 35th wedding anniversary, so I guess it worked out OK for them.

thats common practice. they are paying for use of the facility and also pay the DJ separately too.

My first job after college was with ConnDOT. They had hired dozens of new people to fulfill a legislative mandate to upgrade the roadway infrastructure. In my division, two of the new recruits were women.

One was reasonably attractive, hitched. The other, we had a nickname for her: Troglodyte. The Trog was desperate for a man and tried the best she could to hook up with anyone available in her profession.

I displayed my girlfriend's photo prominently on my desk to let Trog know that I was off limits. One guy in the office thought that was a great idea, yet lacked a girlfriend at the time, so he purchased a photo frame with a stock photo in it and displayed that.

Trog ended up marrying some farmer dude. That happened long after I left so I don't know any details. Someone told me that he was much older.

As a professional? No. Never.

In my early days I worked restaurants during HS and Undergrad. If you have kids or grandkids under 30 in this industry, trust me, they're banging. And some way over 30, that prefer under 30, and that might happen as well.

What was weird is everybody knew, but nobody ever caused BS about the recreational pursuits. It was perfect.

I spent a brief time working in the maintenance dept at a hospital. I was 18 or 19 and the older nurses in their 20's/30's were crazy for the D.

This was The late 70's in a big defense contractor. She was not in my Department and I was no where near " Executive " status where I could have any influence on her job.
