You are correct and I figured that would come up in response to my post. I guess most of the West has moved beyond the brutal middle ages. Those who haven't should be removed.

There are many cultures on the globe that have nothing to do with Western ways and don not even know about them. I was reading about an island where the population kills anybody who lands a boat there. True stuff. And think of African tribes. What's been going on in the Congo for ages. Slavery. Severing limbs. Cannibalism. Us Westerners like to think most of the world thinks like we do and have our same ideals and priorities. That is not the case. And our foolish meddling with other cultures trying to 'convert' them to our way of thinking is like trying to talk a shark out of taking your arm off or a rattlesnake out of biting you. Not happening. It's a big, bad world out there and we need to keep vigilant.

I saw a program about 6 months ago where the host did a history hunt and actually found a gibbet pole still intact and standing. Either in England or in New England. 300 years old or so, missing the cross-piece. I had never heard of gibbeting before then. The host said sometimes it would take days or even a week or more for some of them to die. Yikes.
