She got in.
Georgia Tech was the most difficult school to get accepted at for Geraghty Anne. She's #4 of 150 students and a boy who's #6, and one other peer both applied and got deferred. GWiz was the only acceptance at GT from her school.
5 years ago when my child said she wanted a part time job, I told her her job was to be a student, and to possibly maximize the scholarship potential. Gotta hand it to her, she got accepted to every single school she applied to, and the 4 majors are all in the top 10 in the country for Mechanical Engineering. We'll be in Purdue in two weeks for our visit. At least she has a choice. I don't care where she goes, but getting the acceptance from GT is a HUGE accomplishment for any student. |

That's great! You must be very proud. My cousin went there in the 70s.
Does she have any opportunity for a scholarship there? |

She's applied for the Buick Scholarship, and fingers are crossed. If she gets that, it maxes out at $25,000 per year for 4 years. Even without the Buick one, her becoming an RA would essentially bring our personal bill down to only a couple thousand more per year than her private school, which means ZERO student debt, and she gets to keep 100% of the trust fund for herself. |

Check out what it takes to get in. Purdue is WAY easier to get in, and that's still an accomplishment. |

Only 1 other student at GWiz's private school (and this is a very serious school) has ever been accepted to Georgia Tech in the last 10 years.

Congrats. That is great for her to be accepted during the ED1. That is usually the ones we want the most that receive their letter on the first round.
Our ED1 was last week and ED2 decisions will go out in 2 weeks to fill the open slots for the students that didn't accept in the first round. Does she have a time frame to accept with GT?

Craig it has been fun following along GWIZ's academic journey. I was thinking maybe you should be writing a book or something on how to set your kid up for a successful future.

That's our girl, but I've said that it will be worth it.. Mechanical engineering covers a broad spectrum of engineering, and I'm sure it would cover may aspects of the automotive side, or give her a broad working knowledge. Plus there are some top rate shops in the ATL area. Not too far from home either. If she goes there, I live close to I 75 in Houston county, so maybe you all could stop by. Would love to meet you. Best of luck on whatever she decides!
