Default Header help....

I'm putting long tubes on my Lt4 and Im having trouble with the alternator bracket that ran to the second bolt hole on the exhaust manifold.
Anyone know how to get the old bracket to fit??

ok ... the bracket runs to the second header bolt from the front.

This is the bracket

this is how the bracket looks on a stock car.

if you are talking about clearance between the header bolt and bracket there looks like a couple of things you can do. There looks like there is pleanty of stud left on mounting bolts to put washers behind the bracket to shim it out. You can also take a hammer and indent the bracket some for clearance.

be more specific.

whats the problem? Is the end of the bracket to big because the tip of it rubs against the tube and that doesn't not allow the bracket to fit all the way in the bolt?

I know what you mean I keep looking at the picture and it is so hard to tell what the problem is. The only thing that caught my eye was the header bolt misssing. My only thinking from that was the bolt was hitting the bracket. Hopefully hell give a better discription.

I just left mine off. Probably not the smartest thing but it hasn't seemed to cause any problems. I can't remember for sure but I think the problem is it needs to fit like the other one in the pic works. It would be fine on the stock exhaust because it comes straight out with a stud. But with the headers, the #1 tube bends back towards the rear of the engine making it imposible to get the stud in. A regular header bolt just barely fits. The only thing I could think to do would be to custom build something that would bolt right behind the header flange using just a regular header bolt.
