Pic of me in the mid 70's racing my go-kart
I know this is not C4 related, but I found 2 pics of me from the mid 70's when I put together my go-kart that I would race for the next couple of years. I believe back then I was around 22 yrs old.
It was a 100cc 2-stroker that turned around 10k rpms. The mfg of the motor was Comet. I ran it with av-gas. I don't remember the exact octane rating, but I know it was over 105. Couple of times I would put a hole in the piston, because during the final lap, I would reach over and lean it out a tad to get a little more rpms. By the time I crossed the finish line, BAM! The sucker would seize. I use to drive from San Diego up to Riverside where I live now, and race on Adam's Kart Track. I lived several years in Garnett,Ks and they were big into go cart racing. They had races around, what we called the North lake, during the summer on different occassions.
The road around the lake was custom made for racing as it had straightaways, with nice curves and even a couple hair pin turns thrown in. It was like an auto cross with go carts and people came in from all over the country for it. The locals used to give the local LEO's fits whne they would get out and race around town, they couldn't begin to catch them. Even had a local Physician get into the fun on occassion. |
