Neighbors Argued Over Snow, All Ended Up Dead

Bloodshed among a sea of white in Pennsylvania, where three people ended up dead after a Monday morning dispute about snow shoveling. Plains Township Police say they responded to a call on West Bergh Street and found the bodies of James and Lisa Goy outside. CNN cites a press release from the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office that says James, 50, and his 48-year-old wife had been shoveling snow from their parking spots on the street onto the property of Jeffrey Spaide, 47. Spaide allegedly asked them to stop doing so and an argument ensued. Per the release, Spaide collected a handgun from his house then shot the couple outside at "close range." He then allegedly went back inside, fetched an AR-style rifle, and shot again at the Goys, "executing" the wounded couple, per Plains Township Police Chief Dale Binker.

Police say that after arriving on the scene they heard a single gunshot emanate from Spaide's home and believe it it was the shot that killed him. "We can confirm that a pistol was used and a long gun, but we have not been able to yet confirm the type of long gun that was used," says Luzerne County First Assistant District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce, per WNEP.

Luzerne describes the dispute about snow as a long-running one. "They're across the street from each other, and when they would remove snow they would throw it across the street at the other person's property," the Citizens' Voice quotes him as saying. The Goys leave behind a 15-year-old son with autism whose grandparents will now have custody.

People live like they are the only ones on the planet and it is all about them. Sometimes I wish I was crazy like Spaide. It would let me handle my asshole neighbors accordingly. It is my desire to stay out of jail that keeps them all healthy.

I have a neighbor with a history of us not getting along. In fact, I once issued a thinly veiled threat to kill his dog. Eventually, he saw the light, and got off my shit, and I have been cordial to him ever since. I had a discussion with him tonight that I am having a water problem at the end of my driveway due to issues too boring to type, he agreed to clear a the compacted snow from a large area in front of his property to facilitate drainage.

These things can be worked out without gunplay.

The best advice I ever got was from my Dad. He said, "Son, it's easier to go through life if you just try to get along with people." Of course, I've lived long enough to determine that some people are just assholes, but his advice was still solid.

some ~23 years ago, a black couple around the corner came down here pissed at ME over something I have no recollection over, just remember super clearly her up in my driveway and loudly giving me shit, and firmly demanding he vacate my driveway.....they drove a nice blue Fairlane.....and so they divorced and he is still around, driving the Fairlane garage queen, and other decent cars that set outside.....he used to have a chain link fence all naked around his property, but over the years, it's grown a decent looking hedge.....every once in a while I spot him and we wave back and forth in recognition of our car hobbies......no sweat.....
