My oldest son is 24. While considered a millennial, he actually does have a job, which he actually enjoys. He doesn't live with his mom, and he pays his own bills.

My 29 Y/O son is in the Army, married with a child.

My 26 Y/O Daughter owns her own dance studio and works full time at a salon to help keep her business alive while it's starting out.

All of thier friends not only work but many work long hour and some have thier own businesses. All are fairly politically and financially Conservative.

According to the far left, you are bad and shameful parents for putting such racial, sexist, and capitalistic values in them.

My job here is done.

Now, if only my 11 year old would see the light and become a useful member of society...

Simple. Tell him he can demand a meal because it is owed to him, or he can do some chores and earn a meal.

When he opts to just demand it. Serve him what he hates. Like peas and turnips for example. MAKE HIM EAT IT OR GO HUNGRY.

Then, the next day when he opts to do a few chores, give him a list and tell him he is free to do as much or as little as he wants to. Then when he does as little as he can get by with, feed him a food he likes, but only to the same ratio of the chores he has completed on the list; filling in the rest of the meal with the icky stuff. Again, Make him eat it or go hungry.

Third day, he'll probably complete the chore list. And he'll probably feel pretty good about it too.

If I did that, his mother would probably try to have me arrested for cruelty or something stupid like that.

She needs something alright. There's a reason she's the ex-wife.

This ALMOST sounds like my DAD's approach to raising me! He did it in a very subtle, kind way though. By the time I reached working age I LOVED to work ... I always gave 200% to everything I did - because I WANTED to ... and that is how I was raised. It served me very well in life ...thanks Dad!!
