Hip Resurfacing question.
Are any of you walking around on a bionic hip?
About a year ago, I was told I would eventually need both hips replaced. This sucks for many reasons, mostly related to me being a martial arts instructor. and wanting to CONTINUE being a martial arts instructor. Conversation with doctor: "I see the problem. You have bad hips." (Humor. Ha. Ha.) "You're still a young man (42). Keep doing what you're doing until the pain is so bad you have trouble sleeping. Then I'll start cortisone shots. When the cortisone shots stop working, then I'll replace your hips." It looks like people with total hip replacements are never allowed to resume truly strenuous physical activity, mostly due to the danger of dislocation. But... resurfacing now, that looks promising. More promising than THR, any road. Anyone? |

I just had it done on my right hip and the pain went from 9/10 to 3/10 but, I tried to run and the pain still there at full throttle.
Im no expert on this but, my doctor told me the same..."you are young blah blah blah". Im no longer a Marine so I dont have to run PT anymore but, not running is making me heavy. Im going to subscribe to this thread and hopefully someone with vast experience would chime in. |

You need to PM Petew1971. He stands in operating rooms and builds those things for a living.
He does this during brief periods of sobriety. |

I have had both of mine replaced. The left one has been done twice.
Long story. I had my first surgery at age 32 and I'm 36, now. PM me if you have any questions. |

If you would like to discuss this procedure with me, I will be more than happy to tell you everything I can about it.
Ive been present during thousands of hip replacements. Send me a PM..we can talk by phone if you like. disclaimer: I am not an MD and suggest you gather as much information as you can before any medical procedure. Knowledge is key |
