Default Need a new gas pressure washer

Have a 20 year old Excell 2600 and it's done. Has a Honda engine that is a bitch to start.

Any recommendations?

Looking at this one. Not interested in the new start/stop technology.

I like my Honda engine PW, think it's a craftsman (display model so was cheap).
Starts fine albeit a tad underpowered to me.
They're all about the same crappy quality past the engine, you could slap a new engine in it...

Hmmmm, if you're buying by price, HD can be ok....Mostly, HD sells an inferior (somehow modified) product at a lower price.

Fuk the box stores.

You haven't said what you use it for.

I have an old Ryobi/Honda that works fine. Starting is always a bit challenging at the start of the year, but if you want to skip the hassle, just have some starter fluid on hand and it's second pull max. All my Honda pulls have been harder to start than my other small engines.

Having said that, if If I can spend 15 seconds to yank an air filter and get another 10+ years out of it, I'm keeping it.

Hit your existing, very capable, unit with a shot of starter and see if you don't change your mind.

We had an electric for a while for small jobs. Emphasis on small.

It's the pull cord that is usually impossible to pull. It's a fight pulling the cord. Been that way since new.

Have 2 large deck to clean yearly. front is 65 x 14 and the back is 60 x 11. Top and bottom.

You can't have the pump blocked off when pulling because you can't overcome the incompressibility of the water in the pump. I always thought these things should have a bypass for start. On the first start of the year, I leave the pump outlet open (no hose), turn on the spigot and start. Let it run for a couple minutes with no hose.

After that, you can start it while everything is hooked up, but you need to keep the trigger on to release the water pressure from the pump.

Cheap POS. It has the 212cc motor which is the same chinese POS that harbor freight sells.

I bought a Craftsman model with 3200PSI (IIRC) 6-7 years ago and have never had an issue with it. Like said above, if the hose/wand are hooked up, the lever has to be pulled in order to start it, but I've never once had it try to yank my arm off. When not in use, I turn off the fuel and let the carb run dry and then fog it with either Deep Creep or load it up with Marvel Mystery Oil.

I bought a Husqvarna 3200 psi from Costco two years ago and have been happy with it.

I had the Excell with the Honda engine too. Same thing, I only used it a couple times per year and it never ran right. I did take it to a shop and they said the carbs go bad constantly. I gave up on it and threw it away. If you only need it one once in a while it's probably better to just rent it.

It's the "hard to pull" statement. That points to the pump, not the motor.

I have had to "tune" the choke position for it to run consistently, especially when it's hydrolocked.

Yep, hold the trigger while you pull it.

It ran a little better with the choke on but eventually just wouldn't run right or build pressure.

Yeah, it is sometimes quirky, where the change of 1/100th" on that stupid ring pull choke is a make or break point. I just got comfortable with the fact if I was going to set it down for more than about ten seconds without the trigger pulled, it would die. Quick pull and I was back in business. Once it is spitting at full pressure, it will outlast me easy.

BTW, get rid of that wand for car washing unless you really need to reach somewhere. I got a new 50' hose for mine and fitted a new gun that I can plug in nozzles and foam guns straight up.

I kept the M22 connection at the pump because it's actually a better mate and very solid. Everywhere else is quick connects so I can swap in and out. Will keep the wand for ground work, but it's now an accessory.

Even with everything hooked up including the water on it's a bear to start.

DON'T HOOK EVERYTHING UP.

Leave the hose connection at the pump OUTLET unconnected. Turn on the faucet (these power washers use the water for cooling), and then start her up. It will spit water at what looks like a dismal level because these work on pressure and volume. Volume is small, but as soon as you stop the flow, the pressure builds pretty much instantly.

Let it run for a few minutes. If you can't start it, go back to square one with the carb fluid. But get it running without the hose first. It should present little pull resistance if you have nothing connected but supply water.

If you get by that, then just keep the trigger depressed while you pull start and you should be fine.

Dirty carb, float had varnish in it, and needle valve also had varnish. Jet was probably clogged, too. A good cleaning with Deep Creep (SeaFoam) and some steel wool fixes that up easily.

I tried every combination to start this. The pull cord is resistant.

It's not the carb as once you get it going it runs fine.

You pay for GPM, not PSI.

PSI is advertising or bragging...gpm is for cleaning.
