I've had pretty good luck with NoMoRobo. You sign up with them, and they block any computer generated phone call to your voip landline. Works about 95% of the time. For some reason, the criminals whose scam is "we want to lower your cc interest rate" occasionally get through, although if you use your phone to block a specific number, you get relief because they generally use the same number for a few weeks before they try a different number. Sometimes they automatically get blocked, occasionally not. Today was one of those rare days. So I pressed the button to talk to someone and SCREAMED a long stream of obscenities at the guy that answered, then hung up. I realize that did no good getting them to stop calling, but, since I was frustrated about some other matters, it was a nice stress reliever for me.

I wonder if asking Trump to drone strike scammers like this would be effective. I bet if a few office buildings got blown up, this crap would stop.

Life would be hell without NoMoRobo. We get only 1 or 2 calls a week that get through. I like the part - ring once and hang up.

land line is never answered, the machine will take your message for later deletion. if i don't recognize your number when you call my cell, you too will go to voicemail. leave a message. if i have your number, because you are someone i know, i'll pick up and we can chat.

Same here. Our land line has visual and audible caller ID. If we don't recognize the name/number we never pick up.

I got 3 phone calls on my cell from what turned out to be the CDC at University of Chicago, doing a survey, but each time I answered, they hung up on me. I know it's legitmate, because I looked it up, and multiple people at multiple sites all said the same thing.....legitimate survey. I blocked the number, though, if they don't have the courtesy to say anything when I answer.

This morning I had one of those call....call....call....call things that I never answer but I was getting fed up with it so I answered but didn't say anything. a few seconds later a male on the other end said Hello?...hello? about 4 times. Then I aswered with "please stay on the line until our trace can be completed".....after which they hung up right away and we haven't had any calls all day. I know it's only temporary but it's fun to fuck with them if you can....
