But I'll give it a few more tries: Look up what is happening at food banks in NJ. Lines literally a mile long of people who have no food, and no money to buy food, so they are forced to wait in lines for hours, and often not get any free food.

Think about 0.005%, that means that one in TWENTY THOUSAND people in this country are sick with this disease. Is this sufficient reason to put millions out of work, with who-knows-how-many-thousands waiting in a bread line?

The average daily number of folks we have in the hospital is somewhere just under 500,000. Don't take my word for it, look it up. While you are looking stuff up to try to prove me wrong, take a minute to look at total staffed beds available. Depending on the source, it is between 900,000 and 1,000,000. So a conservative estimate is that COVID-19 patients currently occupy approximately 2% of available hospital beds in the US.

I'm struggling for more words, and from me, that is saying a lot.

I’m not arguing with you so I’ll agree instead.

This was done to flatten the curve and in most places that was accomplished weeks ago.

Here in my province, we have (ball park figures but close) 400 total cases, only about 50 that are still active, 6 deaths and 2 or 3 currently in the hospital and we have the same restrictions as a province that today, counted another thousand new cases.

Other than their original fear of overloading hospitals, I don’t know why more restrictions haven’t been loosened sooner


Correction ...... 280 total cases for our province and 38 are currently active,

The others have recovered with the exception of 6 deaths. Of the 38 active, only 7 are in hospital with none in ICU

If you were making minimum wage, you were making around $400/week. Unemployment at the fed level is $600/week, plus whatever the state is kicking in. So yes, for some people, it pays to stay home on the dole.
