DropTopGal Getting HEADers Plus
Yes, it is for real, I'm getting HEADers next week. This is what I'm having done on Tuesday.
BTW: My current Vette is a 2010 Grand Sport A6 NPP with a bunch of cosmetic stuff and complete stereo upgrade already done. LG longtubes LG x-pipe LG high-flow performance cats LG 3" collectors O2 extensions MSD wires / NGK spark plugs 160' thermostat Professional complete dyno tune (both engine and A6) Total cost for parts, installation, tune and dyno: $2,500 It should take a full day to complete the work. Not only will I see about a 50hp & 35tq increase, but the C6 will drive more smoothly and crisp. Initially I as going to just do the tune for me, but my hubby wanted a bit more uumph. With these mods, the Vette should still be reliable as a daily driver. The tuner is rather renowned in my area for his work on GM LS engines. He not only daily drives a C6, but races them as well. Over 1,000 customer vehicles have been modified by him with great results, including supercharges and turbo kits. I'll post pics next week, after the work is done. |

I wasn't sure if I/we was getting the best $$ deal. I researched the costs of the parts and took in consideration that the performance shop was reputable with extensive experience. So I presumed the price was fair. Also, I've seen their work on other Vettes. Others who had this shop work on their Vette have gone over 100,000 miles with a supercharger, internal engine mods and such, with no problems at all. I guess that says something in of itself.
I'll post pics for sure. No worries there. |

Looks like the bad weather in Texas has delayed shipments from LG. The shop just called and the work to be done will be rescheduled for the end of the week or beginning of next.

I just had LG's & Hiflo's added to my, oops, our '07 c6 A6. I had won a free tune so that was also done. I noticed the biggest difference in the shifting. Ours sucked before. You could eat lunch between shifts. I put the NPP's on last year. Love 'em. I paid $1450 but remember the tune was already paid for. Didn't have any other work performed either.

Update: Installation done. Night to day difference. Quick review:
LG longtube headers with high flow cats and 3" connector: makes the NPP sound really scary when open like a race car, when closed, a bit more sporty rumble. 160' thermostat: temps always now in the 180s. Tune (engine and A6): transformed the car into very smooth ride around town, but when getting on the gas, the shifts are very fast, crisp, with no delay. Our GS so badly wants to be driven hard, what it was designed to do. Another observation, gas mileage seems to have improved some, particularly on the highway. Stock Mustang dyno: 382hp / 372tq After headers and tune: 415hp / 409tq The tuner said that the Mustang dyno is about 10% conservative, so real power is actually higher. The Goodyear EMT run-flats where worn down pretty bad with 11,000 miles on them. Dry traction was still ok, but in the rain, scary driving. After considering the options, we initially wanted to install over-sized Nitto INVO tires. Unfortunately, the INVOs are on backorder for several months. So the performance shop set us up with NITTO NT05 for the same price as the INVOs. Oh, they also lowered the Vette about an inch. I think the tire sizes are (295/35/18 and 335/30/19). Many of the C6 Z06 Vettes down here have these tires and find them to be exceptional. Of course, we had a laser alignment done. It drives like it is on rails. Amazing!! |

Sounds like a normal improvement for those mods as I understand. To me headers are a great mod for several reasons, not just hp. They sound good, look nice on your engine and oh yeah add hp.
I was a bit disappointed on our dyno sheet for our LS2. I had taken a Friday off work and drove to Dallas from OKC to get the tune. They had the car most of Friday and I picked it up Sat morning. We didn't get a before run because he said they didn't have time which didn't sound right but they were busy and they didn't get paid for the tune since it was donated (but I don't think I should have been shorted because of that). We installed a Killer Bee intake and the LG long tube headers and we had put on the NPP's last year. We ended up with 345 rwhp and 359 torgue on a Dynojet. Honestly, I would have thought 345 would have been more appropriate before the mods. |

That is great results for your mods and a tune, your base line numbers are just a tad higher than our stock 09 without NPP ours was 378
