My brother had a '72 F250. Also a long bed, 390 with a C6. It was a Sport Custom Camper Special with every option but AC and 4WD. Even had a working factory FM radio. It used to be my parent's truck, they owned it since around '75. It spent some of it's life with a 10 ft camper on it. My brother rebuilt the engine, changed out the ignition, carb, and just about every other component on the engine. He spent about 5K on body work and a repaint in the original color, which was burgundy. I did the seat and the rest of the interior was stock, original and in excellent shape. It had aftermarket Sears AC, but it quit working so he just removed it but still had it and would have included it in a sale. It had stock wheels which were painted with the truck with dog dish hupcaps. It won many trophies at shows.
All this restoration work was done in '98-'99. He had it professionally appraised at that time for 15K. My brother gave it to his grandson about two years ago, and it's in Arizona now. I wouldn't blink about paying 20K for it. |

OP, I would recommend replacing the faded, stained carpet.
The liquid stain on the passenger side suggests a leak, which could turn some top-dollar purchasers away. Seems like a really big bang for the buck investment on an otherwise exceptionally clean truck. |

Also, it needs a really good detailing. It looks like someone just spent about two minutes with a cloth on those door hinges and door panels. The hinges, in the areas beyond what a casual swipe with a rag could reach, have dust or dirt that looks like it hasn't been touched in a long time.
There are quite a few surface rust spots in your pictures that should at the very least be touched up or fixed prior to advertisement. For instance, what looks like very inexpensive brackets holding both the driver and passenger door lamp switch needs replacement... if you're going after deep pocketed buyers. The engine compartment has lots of dust and dirt. A very thorough top-to-bottom $1500 detail can make the difference between a $20,000 sale and a $10,000 sale. |

Changing the carpet in a pickup is a very easy job. Buy a pre-formed carpet kit and about 2 hrs labor tops. Anyone can do it. All you may need help with is lifting the seat out of the truck. They are a bit heavy.

The floor is actually vinyl, and I doubt that I'll change it out since it's original to the truck.
I know that I can clean it a little more thoroughly though and definitely plan to when I get serious about it. My initial attempt was a little lazy just to see what happened. |

Agreed. That engine bay looks pretty good though. Some grease on the front of the block, easily rectified. Some selective krylon work and simple green/rag, that thing would be choice. |

This one showed up on FB
972 Ford F100 · Ranger xlt $8,900 Jefferson, GA Ranger XLT package. Power steering, power brakes, A/C. 360 FE with Edelbrock Aluminum heads, mother thumper cam, aluminum edelbrock intake, headers, holley street avenger 670 carb. C6 Auto Trans ( not original) with Hurst Pro Matic Shifter. This truck runs beautifully and sounds amazing. Super 10 Flowmaster mufflers with a mustang X Pipe. New Tires and wheels from summit, 275 in rear 225 in front. DJM Beam swap with cut coils and shackle kit, held up by special order DJM shocks. As you can see the truck has a bit of rake to the stance but I could never bring myself to C notch the frame. There is some rust in the hood and passenger cab corner but that is it. This is not a frame off resto and not a perfect truck. But, for being 50 years old the paint is original and has held up well considering. I keep it clean and stored indoors on a concrete floor with climate control. This is a nice original paint ranger that is not a dime a dozen anymore and I have it priced accordingly. Bill of Sale and current registration will be included in the sale. |
