Default Back Yard Walkway
Ever since I had the ramp put in, to walk around to the back we were starting to wear out the weed growth by the small opening we had left, so fixed that today.

I gave that some thought, but it's load bearing as the others, that's a big roof over that area, didn't want to get involved, re-routed the downspout flow out to farther out on the lawn. We have plenty of room to walk by.

I get it.

~2yrs ago I had a wall tore down to open the room up. Needed to relocate the load bearing point 12" to make it symmetrical....it was quite entailed and took 4 guys most of the day.

A nice gentle S curve on the walkway would have put it right in the center of two posts. Then terminate the unnecessary wood railing at the right post. How could anyone not plan that properly?

That “unnecessary wood railing” is part of the wheelchair ramp that was already there. How could anyone not see that?

Changes to load bearing supports takes some engineering, I'd leave it alone. First rate work on the pavers and that job isn't trivial, getting the pattern right and everything level on a good base takes some doing (ask me how I know) I might put a potted vine at the base of that post and let it grow and spiral around it maybe - to make it less "structural-looking" and call it a day.
