Default Now that's hitting below the belt!

North Carolina has become infamous for passing a bill in March that blocks measures to protect members of the LGBTQ community from discrimination. This has caused many famous musicians, like Bruce Springsteen, to cancel their concerts. Paypal has even canceled an expansion of the company that was supposed to open in North Carolina. Now, people in the state of North Carolina can't even look at porn.

That's right, a popular website for sexy media called XHamster has blocked all computers from North Carolina. Instead of seeing... whatever it is they were searching for, they'll see a blank screen. Eventually, they plan to replace that blank screen with a petition to repeal the law.

[Actually it works like this: When users with a North Carolina IP address visit the website they will be asked if they support the anti-LGBT law, xHamster Chief Marketing Officer, Alexander D. Hawkins, said in an email. If they choose in the affirmative they will be blocked from the site, he said.]

Porn giant xHamster blocks N.C. users who support anti-LGBT law

So, how I feel about a law regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual and torque people determines whether I get to see your pr0n? Really? Regardless of how one falls on that litmus test, if I lived in NC, I bet I could get pr0n (including girl on girl pr0n) from another website.

Who is making the laws in NC anyway ? The Gestapo?
If enough pressure is put on the Nazis in NC, they'll fold like a lawn chair.

I'm not a big believer in business getting involved in social issues. Just sell me your product. I'm not interested in your views on, well, on anything, besides having the best product or service at the best price.

How would you feel, if gun manufacturers stopped selling their guns in NY, to protest NY's draconian gun laws, for example, or more of an exact parallel, required anyone buying one of their guns in NY to sign a pledge to oppose those laws?

What if the local grocery store required you to sign a pledge about anything before it permitted you to buy groceries?

Having said that, I support the right of those companies to discriminate against anyone, for any reason, which is kind of the point of the law, and very ironic that the pr0n company is willing to discriminate against its customers that refuse to pledge some kind of loyalty oath, (a fascist move if I ever saw one), in order to protest the law.

I have many choices in the shopping world.
I'd go elsewhere if I didn't like a retailers ethics.
It's that simple.

Likewise, businesses have many choices regarding who will be their customer base. Shouldn't they be able to go elsewhere if they don't like the prospective customer's ethics? Isn't this exactly what the pr0n company is doing? Why shouldn't companies who feel differently about the issue be able to do the same exact thing?

(Obviously regulated monopolies are excluded, of course.)

Yes, they do, but it's a slippery slope.
One wrong move and you're out of business or you alienate yourself from a sector that could mean the difference between profit and loss.
Nike dropping Tiger after the golf club throwing incident with the ex is a perfect example.

there's a difference between government making you do something against your beliefs and allowing others to do it.

Why do liberal think it's OK to ban guns form certain places, Prevent people from practicing free speech in others, both of which are clearly rights in the constitution, but believe banning someone with a Penis from using the Women's bathroom is somehow violating their rights?

I sure don't want some pseudo tranny pissing in the same bathroom as my daughter, especially if she was under age.

North Carolina just codified a law that protects the rights of business owners who feel exactly like you to stop that from happening. Right here in Houston, the city council passed a law forcing businesses to stand down and allow a free-for-all in bathrooms and locker rooms. Houston's voters were so incensed with that ordinance that they mounted a legal challenge, and got a referendum put on the ballot, where it was soundly defeated by the voters. And you know what? The sky didn't fall, gay bashing didn't become trendy again, and in short.....nothing changed.

How anyone can consider that acceptable is beyond my comprehension.
Good for Texas.
As far as NC, if it wasn't for the governor stepping in, it would be the law of the state.

Here is another prime example.

A WARNING FROM DICK SMITH:
You may be aware that " Dick Smith " chain franchise stores are being pressured by the Islamic Council of Australia to gain 'Halal Certification' otherwise they will be proscribed and banned from Muslim custom.

This is their response:
A MESSAGE FROM DICK SMITH.
"We at Dick Smith 's have received a number of letters from people asking if we will be putting the Muslim Halal logo on our food.

To acquire Halal certification, payment is required to the endorsing body (the Islamic Council) and involves a number of site inspections of both our growers and processors in order to ensure that our practices comply with the conditions of Halal certification.

It is important to note that this does not reflect the quality of the food being processed or sold – it only means that the products are approved as being prepared in accordance with the traditions of the Muslim faith.

We are aware of an increasing number of large companies both in Australia and overseas, such as Kraft and Cadbury, who have obtained accreditation to use the Halal logo. We don’t believe they have done this because of any religious commitment but rather for purely commercial reasons.
Perhaps these large organizations can afford to do this.
While we have a choice however, we would prefer to avoid unnecessarily increasing the cost of our products in order to pay for Halal accreditation when this money would be better spent continuing to support important charitable causes where assistance is greatly needed.

We point out that we have never been asked to put a Christian symbol (or any other religious symbol) on our food requiring that we send money to a Christian organization for the right to do so.
Others would add that money paid to ANY Muslim 'organization' (and you had better believe it: these people ARE 'organized') can easily find its way into the hands of Islamic extremist-fanatics and murderers, irrespective of assurances to the contrary.

What other assurances do we accept from Muslims?
Oh, that's right, 'Islam is a religion of PEACE'!
How less Australian can companies get, than to place money into the hands of those who seek to exploit us?"
This is an example of how the leaders of Muslims in Aus./NZ. are bullying large commercial organizations (especially in the food industry) into paying what is no more than blatant extortion money. The amazing part is that these weak-kneed organizations (Cadbury/ Schweppes/ Nestles/ Kraft etc.) actually pay the large sums demanded by these self-appointed religious bureaucrats.

Of course, the manufacturers promptly pass this levy on to unwitting consumers as cost increases. Next time you buy a block of Cadbury's chocolate, look for the Halal Certification seal on the wrapper. So, regardless of your own religious faith, you end up subsidizing Islam.
The Council also controls the Muslim voter bloc which, as yet, does not have sufficient critical mass to make a difference - but give them time.

Several state jurisdictions are under pressure to adopt or permit Sharia Law in Marriage, Family and Property matters and some, under the delusion that they are being progressively liberal, are permitting this. This has already happened in some local authorities in the U.K. Google the U.K. Education Department's current investigation into the conduct of Muslim-run schools in the Birmingham area of England.

How many more warnings do people need?
Check the produce on the shelf and don't buy anything Muslim extorted.

DNA determines gender, gender determines what bathroom you use. Period.

I have a fairly open mind, but there needs to be a limit to everything. If we are going to be allowed to do whatever we want, when will some asstard decide he identifies as a 12 year old girl in insist he be allowed to join the girl scouts?

Time to roll this shit back a decade or so and nail it down.

Let me just say this: If I am in a Men's room and Caitlin walks in in her full regalia to take a piss I say I am justified in knocking his err... her ass out cold for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I suspect the Supremes, even in their politically induced current state would agree I am correct. WTF are these local yokels thinking???
