Tonight I went to Outback Steakhouse with a few friends. Last time I went to an Outback may have been 20 years ago.

Party of five on a Saturday night. We had beers at the bar while we waited maybe 25 minutes to be served. So that was a separate bill.

All five of us had various versions of the $17 three course special. I had an 8 ounce sirloin instead of six so paid an extra $3. Choice of soup or salad. Choice of side with the entree. Decent size slice of cheesecake for desert.

Herd to beat those prices these days.

Seems like a pretty good deal. We spent $41 today at a local place on lunch for 2; an order of nachos, fish sammy, fries and iced tea.

Yes, that's cheap.

Breakfast today (omelette with sausage on the side and coffee) was $21 with tip, and that's the cheapest place around. Depending on where I am, sometimes lunch is $25 with tip. I go out every day except Sunday.

But who cares? I ordered a casket with pockets on the inside just in case there's some left so I can take it with me.

You would of been better off going to the sizzler and getting the steak and shrimp langostino for 5.99

You old enough to remember when they put a pickled beet slice on the salads? My mom would eat all of them. I hated those things and I had to scrape the dressing off because I was not giving that up.

Man that brings back memories...wasn't that bread the best. Going to the sizzler was a treat and at the time far better than my mom's German food...but now it's completely opposite...my mom's cooking is so much better.

Cheap meat = cheap prices. It's called Outback because that's where the meat comes from..."outback" of a garbage truck.

Texas Roadhouse has the best deal, get the "early bird" 6 oz sirloin with baked potato, salad, rolls and a drink. The cut tastes like filet mignon and the price is the best special around. $10.99/meal:

Haven't been to the Outback in ten-plus years but the value was always there, mainly in the service. Food was fine, but nothing to rave about, but as a place to go as a group and get taken care of without hassle, a good value. Have also done the early bird stuff at Texas Roadhouse, and same deal. You're eating for less than McDonalds would cost, and having good food and good service. As fast food workers get increasingly higher wages due to laws, the fast food places will go automated or simply shut down due to lack of business. I've been seeing that locally.
