Default Unions

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't unions originally to give the workers better pay and a better workplace? Then unions mostly became bad in demanding too much and becoming corrupt? If those are true, then would that have been a driving force for companies to hire illegals? So if all that is true, then would unions that are not corrupt and work with companies keep the hiring of illegals to a minimum? Do unions even have any illegals in them?

My oldest friend, known that man since '60 or so, met in HS, fellow electronics geek/hobby/job we went to Ft Worth Tx in '70 he stayed, and went to work for Miller Brewing on the south freeway, Teamsters, driving a fork lift do now 40 years later he going to retire with a decent pension....today he rarely get in the saddle anymore, he just rides a computer, shipping/billing dept....

some years ago Miller sold out to SAB South African Brewing....so SAB kept the last union contract, but ALL new employees have been illegals, working for 15 bux/hour, 30 hours/week MAX as part time, with NO BENEFITS....been going on for near ten years now....

SO, they putting pressure on Ken and the 6 or so other old men to GTFO...retire.....

trick is, according to Ken, none of the 'new hires' seems to know anything or give a shit....

so Ken getting ready to take his SS check, pension, and hit the road...

he put his 2 daughters through A&M they are now top flight corporate accountants jerking down mid 6 figgers each....

and still lives only 3 miles one way from work.....

NOW, without that union, he'd be on the street decades ago making 15 bux/hour IF that lucky.....

Retired 40 year construction union member here. No we do not take illegal’s into our union. We have a 5 year apprentice program and all applicants are interviewed and checked out prior to being accepted. In fact we have turned in those non union contractors that brought in illegal people. Only the non union contractors would dare bring in illegal workers!

There kind of obvious! A van shows up and 15 people that can hardly speak English shows up and the BOSS points and grunts a lot to show his illegal workers what he wants done. That or their people show up after we have left job for the day. It’s kind of obvious!

As for me I also have no use for certain other unions. As far as I’m concerned there are big differences between what I do/did (skilled construction) and the assembly line & public sector unions. BIG DIFFERENCES.

No. That is one big reason why companies bring in the hispanic workforce, to keep unions out.
