If that's what those goofy protesters are doing, they are stupider than I think they are.

Capitalism is what made this country great; it insured our freedoms, funded our military and gave us the highest standard of living in the world.
Anyone who doesn't accept that as gospel is either functionally illiterate or being fed through a tube.

That being said, you still have to make your own way. Like I always say, the world don't GAS enough about you to want to eff you over.

Unfortunately what I see today is that many, many citizens of this country are looking for a free ride. Bailouts, handouts, loan forgiveness, hep' me b/c of the color of my skin or my ancestry...

Give it a rest and go bust your own ass.
re: tax breaks. Even if those tax breaks were bought and paid for by those same Corporations taking advantage of them?

re: Capitalism. While I agree, I think we've moved past the model of true Capitalism a long time ago. What do they call it when a particular class sets the rules everyone else has to play by? Oh yeah- "Oligarchy."

It's really only the super-big corps that get their very own tax laws passed and they work the process for years, not months. Still, it's legal, and if we want to change that, it starts on the Hill. People who think the President has any near-term impact on the minutiae of the tax code are mistaken, IMHO.

Undue influence, yes. Oligarchy? No.
Russia is a far better example of that.

I just love these nouveau-hippies, protesting corporations...

while attending the protest "rally" wearing the latest in nouveau-hippie fashion...carrying an Iphone...and sipping on a 10 dollar coffee from Starbucks.

clueless...much like JoeCoool...

entertaining, possibly dangerous...but near 100% clueless.

Personally, I can't wait until the adults are back in power.

First order of business: undo all the crap that the previous administration and the 111th congress did.

Agree here as well. By the same token, I think it's fair to say we have the best government money can buy.

and, the protests go global. News at 11:00.

The only reason it's "global" is because unions are behind it. It is their dying gasp.

The more interviews I see with these protestors, the more abundantly clear it becomes that "We are the 99%" refers to the fact that 99% of them have no f'n clue what they are even protesting.

I have heard a few valid points among the masses of stupidity but as far as I can tell, this is nothing more than a bunch of lazy, entitled, drains on society, who feel like they are owed something simply for existing.

I'm not convinced unions are the root of the problem, any more than I think they're part of the solution. Blaming unions is like blaming the KKK for previous racism in this country. They're an easy target, but the issue is much deeper and more complex than that.

Welp, I wasn't passing judgement on it, but let's revisit those two decades for a minute. We had Kennedy, who wasn't near as competant as many peeps believed. Followed by Johnson, who should have been checked into an institution for psycho-therapy. Followed by Nixon, a true slime-ball by anyone's standards. Followed by Ford (yawn), and then... the Carter years.

The "good old days" really weren't all that great. We needed Reagan a lot more than we may have realized at the time.

I was going to stay out of this cat fight, but damn.

Here is reality:

Corporations have, over the past 4 months, moved over $900 billion out of the USA. I am well aware of this as I assisted many corporations over the past three months in doing just this.

Reason - they foresaw the stupidity of the present situation (protest on Wall St) and understand that the probability exists that Congress, and BHO, are going to find a method to tax idle corporate cash.

Before Y/E 2012 there will be an additional $1 trillion shipped off- shore.

Money 'parked' off- shore, and duly protected, can result in NO USA taxation.

Additionally these monies will go far in further eliminating the work force base in the US - the simple reason; embedded cost (wages, HC, etc.), and restrictions (I.e., EPA, etc.) are so restrictive that adding additional manufacturing capacity in the USA is absolutely a non- starter.

VC (venture capital) money has followed suit.

Is there any good news? Yes, but a lot of USA policies will need complete overhaul. As will certain state local government long term debt and CODB (cost of doing business). With these addressed it is possible that a reverse trend will occur.

Don't bet on it.

The only good politician is one that really does not want the job.

The hard part would be getting them to serve.
