Default Life is good!

It was 75 degrees today and sunny--I had forgotten just how good sunshine feels! Built my daughter a cabinet today, having a cold beer now, next will be a gin and tonic, going to grill some halibut and roast some asparagus later. Ahhh!

How was your weather and your day, and whatcha doin' tonight?

Pics of cabinet? And daughter (not necessarily in that order).

Spent the afternoon shucking a box of oysters with an astonishing 65% success rate.

No... 35% unshucked oysters that wound up making it back to their natural habitat in the Santa Rosa Sound.

Most of them skipped a few times on the way out there.

Sorry. I'm just lucky today; we've had so damn many "wintry mix" storms lately, I had almost forgotten what the sun looks like.

Cold with huge wind gusts and temps in the high 30's. Of course, the weather azzhats said it was going to be beautiful and in the 70's. Oh I forgot to mention, there are numerous wildfires around us so going outside all you smell is smoke.

Are you gonna eat 'em raw or cook 'em? You ever cut yourself shucking oysters?

Nah, I eat them raw on a cracker with a little cocktail sauce on some of them.

The oyster knives are not sharp at all.

They're no more sharp than a butter knife.

If one makes the mistake of sharpening an oyster knife, it really doesn't make the job of opening the oyster any easier... just a lot more dangerous.

Went to a Ga. Blacksmiths meeting for most of the day, saw some old friends.
Donated a total of $10 for "Iron in the hat" raffle & won a damascus steel belt buckle, a forged wrought iron "tree" votive candle holder, and some old american made files that I'll forge with.

Heading out for drinks and dinner now........

Didn't know the knives aren't sharp. I've seen a lot of people at an oyster bar in New Orleans do some serious damage to their hands using an oyster knife.

Sideways snow, and like 24*F with wind at 30mph, and gusts to 50 mph....Our weather absolutely has sucked every Saturday this winter....On the bright side, I finally bitched hard enough at the wife to give me her business tax stuff, and faxed all of it to my accountant. Mine was done two weeks ago. She said it's lookin' good for a hefty return....I'll have the results in a couple of hours.
5 inches of snow tomorrow.... PRIMAL SCREAM !!!

Sorry man--that sucks. I never get a tax refund...but I pay tax estimates, so no point in overpaying.
