CorvetteForum.com is offline briefly to install the most recent software update patch
That is copied/pasted from CF this morning - guess it was not our imagination.
Hope that it works out, got a lot of friends over there. |

"What do we do!?"
"I don't know!" "Maybe if we update the forum software..." "You know... that just might be crazy enough to work!" |

The two times that i have gotten in over my head, I .....
Quit while I was ahead, opened the fire-proof safe, and pulled out the back up drive. Restored to a week back, resynched documents and emails from the laptop ( or vice versa), tested restores, and was back in business. All 4 of my computers are backed up on a separate drive on the server, AND on the portable hard drive stored in the fire-proof safe. |

Wow, you don't mess around. I use a mirrored array in y desktop in case a HD dies and anything I like copied on to 3 other computers around the house but other than that I don't really have anything too important and it's always fun to start from scratch.

I moved away from RAID arrays -
The viruses or driver faults can just get copied onto the mirrors in a worst case scenario - Like doing a scheduled backup before you realize you had a serious fault. My laptop runs a striped RAID array (gaming rig), which I would not do again. Hard drive performance is so good these days that RAID is more hype than value for a personal user. My water-cooled tower runs two 150 gig 10,000 RPM Velociraptor drives, and two 500 gig storage drives - one for photos/music/etc, one for internal backup of the Velociraptors. |
