Official "I HATE AUTOZONE" Thread
Just went up to my local Autozone and as everybody knows the clerks there are mostly clueless dipshits.
Asked for 4 feet of generic 5/16 Fuel/PCV hose. Guy cuts it and it rings up for 30 dollars. NFW am I paying 30 bucks for 4 feet of hose. I asked the guy to double check, but he insisted. Found a 25 foot spool of AC Delco 5/16 hose on Amazon for 17 bucks. Don't really need 25 feet, but at least I'll have enough for the rest of my life. I think the guy rang me up for the entire spool, but who the hell knows. |

Autozone requires two visits. Always. One to get your part and the second visit to get the RIGHT part.

I won't even use them for car parts anymore. Generic stuff and detailing supplies that's about it. My experience with AZ parts has been less than stellar. For parts, NAPA, CarQuest or Rock Auto only.

Nope didn't ring it up wrong, the price per foot for vac/fuel lines is outrageous at any parts store now. I buy 25/50 ft rolls off amazon for same price(or less) of a few ft from local place. If they wonder why amazon getting our business instead of local places look no further. I will pay more local if within reason, but 50 to 100% more isn't going to happen. Seems 99% of the time the order parts I need anyway so for another day of wait I save a ton. Autozone carries one or two things other places don't otherwise I'd never step foot into their stores.

On our previously owned '01 Jeep Cherokee. Had a small leak at the steering knuckle on the front axle. My mechanic tried to get an OEM axle seal but it would take a few days to get it in. Got it from AZ. He installs it and we take the Jeep home. Still leaks. Goes back and AZ reimburses him for the labor to replace it. Still leaks. I can understand the mechanic making a mistake installing an axle and damaging the seal. But not twice. I took my dial calipers up and we start checking things out. Turns out the AZ seal was too big to seal against the axle. Other parts failed right about the time the warranty was up. No more AZ parts |

Good luck finding anything made in US now.. Timken switched to china so their stuff is total shit now. Found out the hard way. So now I buy the cheapest shit i can most of the time, no sense paying top dollar for the same Chinese junk.
