Skyline Cruise
I recently found out about Skyline drive and it sounds like a pretty sweet drive. Then I heard about a Skyline cruise with Vettes and what not. So who puts this on and when do they do it?

Its usually in early spring and fall (change of leaf colors). They don't cruise in the park anymore but do stick to outside twisties.

Steve, it is a pretty fun trip. A few of us when about two or three years ago. Met lots of great people and had some fun on some twisties that will make ya pucker a little being so close to the mountain wall.
Personally I think the fall is a little big better as far a scenery goes because the leaves are changing colors.

This year the guy on CF who organizes it replaced the cruise with a charity car show.... I went years ago in 2003 when I first purchased my Z06. Had a blast and almost got taken to jail

If they do have a cruise though, you should really go it at least once. I remember when we went as we were leaving the lunch spot we got separated at a light, and the group I was in VERY SPIRITEDLY tried to catch up...much to the dislike of a nearby state trooper.

The last time I did the cruise 5 of us got stopped and issued 'warnings' for 'sprited take offs'.
Some local fool reported that all 5 of use did burnouts leaving one of the rest area. We insisted the park ranger go back and check the pavement, but they declined and just gave us warnings.

They usually start at the Chevy Dealer in Front Royal then cruise to Skyline Drive or whatever route is selected. I don't know if they still stop somewhere to do a group photo or not, but you can drive as much or as little as you want.

Plenty of time ?...64 W and N on Blue Ridge Parkway. Two years ago I lost two ZO6 rims on rumble strip/curb at a scenic overview so be careful.
