I really wanna go back to Jamaica this year.

Need a place more lively though. We went to Excellence Oyster Bay and while we wanted something low key is was more low key than we expected.

A lot of people feel that way about gin, especially if it's labeled London Dry Gin as most was in the past. Lately new gins have been introduced that have dialed back the juniper a bit. Hendricks has a hint of cucumber and floral taste and is quite different from Bombay. Makes a great G&T with Fever Tree Elderflower tonic. Also makes a great martini with just a dash of vermouth and a very thin slice of cucumber dropped in the glass or a lemon twist, which I prefer.

My favorite by far is The Botanist gin. IMO, the perfect martini gin. It's a little spendy but even better than Hendricks and doesn't taste like you're sucking on a green pine cone.


Aviator also dials back the juniper but is owned by some Hollywood hack so I don't buy it anymore.

The Botanist and Hendricks are fine gins. Don’t care for the Bombay Sapphire. Tanqueray is also good. Gin is the only way to make a proper martini. Bone dry with a twist. No olives. Stirred.
