I'm using my current one over at the other joint as well. I'm just waiting to get my hands strapped by the puritanical powers that be.

Paddy was dying and his close friends and family were visiting on what would probably be his last day. As Mike came in Paddy called him over and had Mike lean over so he could hear him better. Michael, being my best friend would you go over to the dresser and get a 20 pound note out of my wallet and bring it here? Mike got the money and returned to Paddy’s bedside. All right, I want you to take that and buy a fine bottle of Jamesons and after the services pour it slowly over my grave. Mike thought for a moment and then said, “Paddy, sure and it’ll be a sad when we put you in the ground but I’ll honor your last request and sanctify your resting place but do you mind if I pass it through me kidneys one time first?”

The Irish travelers blessing: May the wind at your back always be your own.

Son and I got our housework done, went antique shopping with no success, then had some lunch, worked under the hood of the vette for an hour, couple of hours at the pool, a long walk to the market for Icees, relaxing now. Nice day

Don't they blame the sloped angle from the corner of the lands down into the grooves as a cause for the problem and claim this is why aftermarket barrels are the cure, because they have square rifling? I can picture the angled rifling of the cutting edge stripping off greater amounts of lead as a bullet is forced into rotation due to micro-slippage. If it's powder fouling they're talking about I just can't imagine rifling configuration alone as a cause for excessive powder fouling when using the same load. Do they presume the bullet fails to obturate thus reasulting in an incomplete burn or ?

I've got a Ruger varmint rifle that uses a combination of the two shapes. One side of the land is squared (the cutting edge) and the other sloped (trailing edge). This is claimed to decrease pressure allowing for hotter/faster loads. If one sloped edge reduces pressure then two might have a larger effect. However this would be readily evidenced by chronograph results and I've never heard complaints about glocks shooting slower than other guns given same load and barrel length.
Yeah I think its just the rifling of the glock barrel that leads to lead collecting.

Quote:
Mark Passamanck goes to great detail into the design of Glock polygonal rifling. A design meant to optimize accuracy with jacketed bullets; the polygonal rifling swages the bullet into essentially an octagon shape. Copper withstands this swaging quite well, so that even jacketed bullets with inconsistencies perform very well. However, lead tends to tear away and is left as deposits in the barrel; therefore, firing as few as five rounds of lead ammunition will cause significant pressure increases in polygonalrifled barrels.
Some of those that I've heard of shooting lead bullets have used a very hard lead? I don't know enough about it to say any more than that, but some references I have heard have been using a very hard lead bullet.

anyone know anything about cribbage? i've been asked by someone to build a unique cribbage board, but not knowing or ever having played the game, i'm a little baffled about the purpose of some of the holes shown on boards/templates.

i've gathered that most modern boards have 120 holes (with a 121st for the finish), and some have 2 sets of holes, others have 3 or 4 sets of holes. any pro/con on how many sets?

thanks, i'll keep digging on the interweb thingie.
