I can imagine you would be a wreck. Did she have any issues? Did she have a good time? Spill it man!

She had a great time. Had a couple lows and highs but overall good. She did not like the no contact thing either. Made some new friends that share the same issues. First time my wife and I have been alone without kids for eight plus years. glimpse of the future I guess.

One of my good friends has had diabetes from childhood. I was just telling Kevin about it yesterday. I didn't know much about it until I met this friend approx 15 yrs ago. (He's another professor.)

Cool that your daughter was able to go to the camp.

That's great she had a good time and met new friends . I wouldn't be good with the no contact from my Dad either. The progress they made with delivering insulin since my Dad passed is astonishing to me. He was up to 3 shots of insulin a day and going into shock at least once a week. I pray your daughter never has to go through that.

So I guess it was pretty strange to have the house to yourselves

Well while under my watch she will not have to deal with the shock issue. I check on her even while she is sleeping. Her insulin pump is really great, and things will only get better for type 1's in the future.

Yeah it was pretty strange to have the house to ourselves.

no painting yet, waiting for the sun to move a bit, and now we have thunder, so if it rains, paint will have to wait.

went down to the shop, have an old ceiling fan we pulled out of the guesthouse this winter, thought i'd install it in the shop's office for a little air movement. seemed like a good idea.

mount junction box on ceiling joist - check
run EMT conduit (1/2") from box back to nearby breaker panel - check
fish wires thru conduit between box and panel, connect to panel's bus bars and breaker - check
mount fan - check
attach fan blades - check....wtf....fan doesn't rotate freely....arrgh

looks like the shaft is off kilter, took the whole mess back down, will see if it's something i can fix, if not, in the trash it goes.....so close....so so close....crap.

I have another friend who has a pump. He developed diabetes in college. The docs were uncertain whether to call it childhood diabetes or not. Apparently that's an odd age for it to happen. He had the pump put in just about 8 yrs ago maybe, and he's about 54 now, I think. IMO, he didn't take care all these years like he should have.

My other friend has taken very good care of himself, doing the tests regularly and eating properly, and he does great. He said when he found out he had it, the docs told the parents of childhood diabetics they'd be lucky to live til 40. He is now 52, and like I said does great. I think the docs scared him into taking care of himself well.

Sounds like your kiddo is in good hands, and going to the camp will help her know how to handle things herself. I'm guessing that's the point of no contact?

Thanks. I hope she is in good hands I think they are more hands on at camp, but she has been doing everything but shots for a while now. Not sure on the no contact part. Might be so they are not so home sick, and can be distracted better. Or they just do it to make it easy on themselves to not have 50 girls calling everynight

We missed her a ton in just a week. How far did your daughter go away to college?
