Default Not a good start to the weekend...

Started driving the race car over to my co-driver's house to load up on the trailer and head down to Key West for the weekend.

I believe the cooling fan quit working. Car very close to overheating. Cooling works just fine, when driving, so I drove the interstate directly to the dealership. Awaiting word as we speak. Highway speeds, car stays at 196 no problem. Stop at a stop light and it shoots to 234 rapidly.

Does the fan come on at all?

I was getting 230+ on my '07 and the fans would continue to run after shutting it off. Turned out to be a bad water pump.

$576?! That's BS, for that money put some nice big aftermarket fans on there and call it a day

Is this a race car? or are you are looking for resale value with original parts?

Electric fan only? Do you have a fan on the water pump? a lightweight plastic after market fan might be the cheapest way to go if not.

I also had to question you replacing an expensive nose awhile back..

Me? I would have just patched it up and put the new one after you are done racing, done crashing, and ready to sell..

When ready to sell is the time to worry about matching numbers and stock replacement parts, but just me maybe...

I could have fixed the car myself, if I had the part, AND the time, but my ass needs to be in the Keys. I didn't even blink at the price. I'm sure part of the cost is simply to get the part from the other coast....today.

We when burn $750 in rubber alone, in a single weekend, shit like this doesn't phase me, it's part of the sport. Missing the event would be far worse.

Yes, the race car. The expensive nose, radiator, fan, horns, ... was this race LAST YEAR. This is the race I wrecked at.

I'm never getting rid of this car, so that's not an issue.

I pay cost for parts. Don't know what I'm paying for labor, but don't really care. I do almost all of my own work. Like I said, the fact that they will have me on the road TODAY is worth any amount of money to me. The fact that they dropped everything for me to make this happen is where the sponsorship really pays dividends.

Last weekend was a bit more expensive for me. And didn't involve a vette.

That's fine and dandy you spend that on tires, but they just bent you over and didn't even kiss the back of your ear.

Like I said, I'm sure a BIG chunk of that cost goes for shipping the part over today. Somebody has to make a 4 hour round trip.

Couldn't you pull the parts out of your other C6? I know it's not the Z, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're the same fans.
