two winters ago, when you could still get components easily, I had my dad load some 45 ACP ammo for me. i supplied the cases and bullets, he had primers and powder. it gave him something to do on cold winter days, and he'd load a box or two at a time on his single stage press. it takes me about an hour to do a box of 50 on my single stage press (RCBS). we visited last year in fall, when my mom was not doing well, and he sent me home with 773 rounds of ammo. thanks dad!

one of his last comments to me in May before we left was to enjoy shooting "our" guns and ammo. I intend to do just that.

came in 4th of 15 scored shooters (also had 2 DQs), only behind a Master and two Experts (i'm currently a Sharpshooter). won one stage, and was most accurate.

not bad for not having shot anything since April. was shooting my Colt Gold Cup in 45 ACP. big holes, easy to see.

Not to be a pain but any pics of your 45? I’m a big fan of the 1911 and own a S&W version. Planning to upgrade to a Kimber.

Buy a vintage Colt. They are the original, and will hold value better than any imitator.
Granted the Kimber is a fine weapon but things are only original once.

I was assigned one as a tanker in the Army, for many years. Those things were rough, the only thing worse was the 45 cal grease gun.

Nice. Might have to talk the wife into getting me one for my birthday instead of a Kimber.

Somebody put a compensator on my current S&W, looks like something Dirty Harry would sport but not worth the money to have it converted back, IMO.

Older Kimbers ( 90s ) were good quality as they were still hand assembled. Once Kimber got more popular, they lost the quality that they built their name on.

I have a Spring-field Armory 1911-A1 ( mid 90s vintage) that works and shoots great.

I didn’t know that about Kimber. Was just going off what a respected BIL said about them a few years back.

Sorry to the OP for dragging out this tangent, glad Mrs DAB is doing better.
