My Grandfather almost ran over President Truman on his Indian Scout in the 50's while Mr. Truman was out for a walk in his Independence, MO neighborhood. Brake failure. Gramps laid the bike down, and Mr Truman assisted my grandfather, who was unharmed. He told him "I damn near hit ya!"


My father met President Truman when he worked as a bus-boy at Stevenson's Restaurant (Independence, MO) in the 60's.

It's nice that Truman decided to stay busy after he retired from the presidency, but with his experience, he probably could have managed the whole restaurant.
