Wouldn't you have to get all of those junk trucks out of the way first ?

I think that’s not the right way to do it correctly and he went on about how he was running a 30% discount for a promotion.

When I told him to email the estimate, he tried to pressure me into what he called a “deal too good to pass up” if I agreed to it today.

Who the hell does business that way?
Asphalt contractors.

As for the concrete, many driveway guys now just want to use fiberglass mixed in the pour, no more rebar or even screen. Its a bad deal. That shit cracks faster than a clinton stealing from a pile of foreign aid money.

Brine is wonderful stuff. Last week I merged onto the highway behind a truck that was spraying it. Fkn Jeep was coated with that shit in a heartbeat, and was a PITA to clean off the windshield. I'm not even sure why they were using as there was almost no chance of temps getting down to freezing.

And as a bonus, some of that brine smells like ass.

How often do you think they use salt or brine in Florida?

My driveway and front walk pavers are 27 years old, they age well, scrub with soap once a year, not much maintenance needed.

This…. Price for concrete isn’t that much higher these days and if it is it’s worth the piece of mind

Not worried about the cost, these things aren't exactly optional if I want to survive the Winter. Besides, I'll probably toss in a decent tip anyway.

A pleasant guy to work with and he's going above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. Showed up the day after inspecting the job and completed the work in one day (needed the time to verify digging with the city). Whole new drain system. What's not to like.
I'm $6500 poorer today and happy for it... Bet you don't hear that every day

The house I grew up in as a little kid had an asphalt driveway. I remember when the house was sold, one of the items that had to be fixed to facilitate the sale was to seal the cracks in that driveway. I think they simply used tar for that.

I remembe my parents being pissed about that.....those cracks didn't bother them for years, but suddenly it's a problem now?

I sold a house in 2000, I had to fix a speaker on the outside front door intercom, and also had to replace an exit door on the side of the garage that was 5% rusted, they would not allow me to sand it and paint it.

I used to make tar balls using the stuff they patch roads with when I was a kid, it's very soft. I think tar is used as a simple water repellent, prevents water from building up under the asphalt. Use to mop roofs with tar as a teen. Was heated up in something like a giant deep fat grease fryer, needed to avoid letting snow, ice, or rain fall into it. Scary thing that was.

These days they sell something similar that hardens better and doesn't need heating to work with. Lowes calls it "roof cement". Has fibers in it (probably fiberglass). Did my gramps roof with this stuff once. Applied using a paint stirrer. Messy, but I keep a gallon of it in my garage just in case.

Drifted around the court house/jail like in the video and coasted to a stop in front of the bar where my 3 hitchhiking passengers were going. Picked these guys up about 50 miles away.

As they piled out of the car I looked in the mirror and spotted a cop getting out of his car. He was parked up in the lot of a gas station. My passengers must have also seen him coming as they tried to convince me to join them. I decided to just wait where I was. He strolled up to my open window and said "Wus da matta boi? You gotta while hair up yore ass?". Big guy! I was very polite. No Sir, just returning to base with my new car Sir. Couldn't resist showing my friends how it performs.

People around there had a lot of respect for the Coast Guard. Fishing town where many had either been rescued by us or knew somebody else who had (we ran >900 SAR cases a year). Cop took a step back admiring the car and said "Well, don't blame you. I like to do the same when I get a new car... But from now on don't be doing that kind of thang in town anymore". "Yes Sir, I won't Sir, thank you Sir". Watched him walk away in my mirror and took off back to the base

He was a good dood, family of a family member's friend, he took a 2.5% seller's, and also got me about 4% more than what I asked him to list.
He got the price in seven days, the buyer was able to close in 30.

I remember that,,,
