What I've spent on lawnmowers:

Bought first house in 1975, fairly big lawn, bought a used Massey Ferguson lawn tractor. Maybe $300 or so . . . ?

Moved here in 1982. My buddy's GF was having a garage sale and had 3 push mowers. She told me to take one, so I did. It lasted until 2002.

In 2002 we were hanging around a bunch of people and one of the guys (who was quite wealthy) gave me a push mower he got from one of his routine visits to the dumps. He would scarf up mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc. and most only needed a plug, carb cleaned, etc. He would get them running and give them away to friends.

Around 8-10 years ago my sis and BIL gave me a self-propelled push mower! First one! My BIL knows NOTHING about anything mechanical. This fix was so simple I don't even remember what it was. Plug maybe? Still using it.

Over the years, I've accumulated three mowers that are in my barn that I picked up off the side of the road with "FREE" signs on them. They all looked to be in fairly good shape but never monkeyed with them cuz I haven't needed them.

So, in 48 years I've spent a grand total of $300 on lawn mowers. I'm pushing to stay with that number til I draw my last breath.

Do I get a prize or anything???

Lawnmower officially will not start. Need to take it to the guy, as soon as I find the guy.

Redneck solution: Used the weedeater to mow the lawn. Took a while.

Or just fill your lawn with old fridges and toilets, then you'd just have to weedeat around them instead of the whole lawn.

FWIW: It was 82 here today, but won't be near that again til next week. But I did notice my lawn greening up a bit.

99% of the time it's old gas. Ethanol in the gas absorbs water and eventually turns to shellac. I used to run all my yard machines dry at the end of the season but for the past two years I have been using True Fuel for storage. The stuff is expensive but my stuff always starts right up in the spring.

Yep.. Full mow today. First regular mow is always a pain. Mowed some wild areas down also as I do every few years. I'll be sneezing for days.

It's getting close, prolly need it by next weekend. It's been 80-ish for a week now, scrub brush and lilacs are getting small leaves. We are about two weeks early.

80 tomorrow then it goes off a cliff, possible flurries in the air Tuesday.

Use StarTron gas treatment ( like Stabile but way better) in every can of gas.

I have used it for years and never have a problem. I have two Cub Cadet 125's. One is set up for snow removal and the other for grass.

They can sit for months on end and always fire right up.

Cut mine for the first time yesterday. Didn't really need it, but had some high spots so made it all even. My 18 year old Snapper mower, B&S OHV engine, started up on the second pull. I filled it with TruFuel when I put it away for last fall.

Yep, as required year-round in SE FL.
Mine is easy, a 2,600 footprint for first floor, lot is about 7K square feet, I can mow in about 20 minutes.
Of course I am a great neighbor, so I cut Jeff's yard too, takes under an hour for both, he edges and trims and sweeps.

I once had a lawn service, they cut once a month during the three winter months, charged me $120/month for about 30 minutes of cutting and edging, I fired their arse!!

BTW, my doc says I need the cardio, and then some.
