I have a feeling now that more security, metal detectors, bag searches and higher police presence etc will be the norm for many night clubs and bars here in Florida and across the nation. I have a very close friend whose family is from Palestine, he is an Arab and practices the Muslim religion.

I would be heart broken if he was picked up and hauled back to his parents homeland. He is was born here in the states.

I am also heart broken that the community I grew up in has been attacked by an an extremist.

But I know we need to at least investigate people with known ties and get them out as a start.

I'm not positive but I'm 90% sure no new gun laws have been passed since Sandy Hook. You'd think after shooting a bunch of children, this would have been almost a given but it doesn't seem to be.

Which is why I don't think they'll pass any new ones now.

That's incredibly idealistic. What are metal detectors and bag searches going to do? They may prevent people like me from bringing mine in, but they certainly aren't going to stop the guy who has the intent of killing people.

Walk right through the metal detector and know you are the only person there with a gun. It's as simple as that. You have an officer manning the detector, there's your first target. ...and you now you also have an extra gun as a bonus. If I wanted to kill people, a place where I had an absolute guarantee that nobody else was armed it exactly where I would go.

Metal detectors don't make the people behind them any safer.

No new federal gun laws. CT, MA,NY, CA and other left leaning states have made it harder and harder to get guns in thier states.

They most certainly TRIED but in most cases we did not allow dumb/ feel good but ineffective legislation to pass!

With that said our commie governor in my state (NY) got the SAFE ACT passed right after S.H. It was done in the middle of the night with no input from the common people. It was a NY city liberals wet dream. Of course it has not done a phucking thing in cutting down on illegal gun carry/use or the blacks killing each other over trivial matters.(FWIW they are the biggest abusers of gun laws in my state)

Like usual all it has done is make life much harder more expensive for the honest taxpaying citizen out there!

You would agree that if you had the intent to kill, and there were 3 or 4 armed officers at a security checkpoint, that your plan might be foiled as they will react when they see the suspect coming with guns?

Metal detectors might not do anything, but they provide a security presence and that may be all it takes to deter.

All I'm saying is there will be higher security and I don't think you will be able to protect yourself, short of just staying at home.

Defense does not make us safe. Going after those who have evil in thier heart does.

Islam is counter to everything the Amerrican constituion is about.It needs tobe confronted and made to either reform of be destroyed.

In order to reduce the number of mass shooting in the USA we need to change the involuntary commitment laws so that families can have thier violent , mentally disturbed family members hospitalized before killing and hopefully get the help they need.
