Complete BS - Having kids sell stuff at work

Every now and then some of the people will bring their kids crap they are selling up here to work and leave the signup form on a table near the microwave. That's fine.

This f'ker had his kids come up here and go office to office. This 5 year old walks into my office, no parent, and puts the forms on my desk and won't leave until I bought something. So I bought some $15 cookies to get the kid to leave.

I should go down and kick his dad square in the nuts. What an asshole.

That is seriously fecked up. No way that kid should have been walking around by himself. You should have just walked out of your office, found the dude, and have him collect his tadpole and GTFO.

It's a no win. Some people no doubt complain about the signup forms being out at their office and the kids not making any effort to get the sales.

And the sad reality (or harsh perception) of kids no longer being able to safely walk house to house to do their sales as they did in the past.

Same thing: It's no win.

I, as the parent, preferred to call and ask "How much can I contribute and her not have to sell a quota of this overpriced crap you sent home with her?"

They didn't much care for that attitude, but geez, folks don't like it at the office, people don't want you at their front doors, and most of the stuff is overpriced and not that good. (GS Cookies and World's Finest Chocolates being the exceptions!

out in the country here though, we're so far apart that we are off the route of any girl scouts...so no GS cookies this year.

door to door in neighborhood - probably buy.

at the office - never did.

I refuse to do it, and the people that do bring that crap to work can keep it. If I need some cookies, a pizza kit, or a freakin' smoked boston butt, I'll go to the damn store.

I talked to 3 other people as we were leaving and they all bought something....and none of us wanted to. Hell, he even took his kids to other departments. That is even more ridiculous.

I don't mind buying crap from my family or my friends kids, but I had no clue who this kid was until I looked at the signup sheet and saw his name.

To me, it's a 100% dick move.

I refuse to fall for that. Last time that happened, I stapled a note shut and had the kid deliver it to her father across the hall. Never saw any more kids selling stuff in my section the remainder of my time there. Of course, it was well known that the father was a douche and we didn't get along.

the note said, "Get your kid and the crap she's selling out of my office. No guilt trip for me today."

I hated that as a kid because we always had to sell candy door to door. My Dad was a denstist so its not like I could send him to work with it. All the other kids had their parents bring boxes to work. I actually had to ring doorbells like a vacuum cleaner salesman.
