I had a friend of mine just get rid of his Speed Triple earlier this year. He offered it to me, but I'm not that crazy. I assume that the Street Triple R is somewhat related to the Speed Triple, so I can see where your wife is coming from.

The Speed Triple R is a Streetfighter style, not a cruiser. Pretty sick machine. I considered one, but I think I want a cruiser.

Yea, the street triple is basically a watered down version of the speed. 675 cc compared to 1100 iirc, and a few other differences. Both same style of bike tho.

My brother has a Bonneville - it's probably about 3-4 years old. Nice bike.

Lots of good reading and info. here: Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums

Growing up on LI the only Harley owners I knew were Pagans and police. Couldn't relate to either one and going to a Harley dealer ..."Yeah, waddya want" sucked, but I enjoyed hanging around the Truimph store. I've owned several older Bonnevilles and Tigers. I really liked the looks, sound and handling, but reliability (read Luca electronics) was a huge issue, (one caught fire under me at idle). The new ones retain most of the look, but vastly improved engineering = dependable reliability. Good luck

My only experience with them is hearing the profanity that the mechanic at my place of work hurls at the late-model Bonny he's had in the shop for weeks now with a frustrating electrical gremlin...

When I last considered a bike, the America is what I wanted. Cool looking bike.

I hate when I drop my badger.

When I can get my hands on a BMW 1600 GTL my Harley is history.

I have an 2003 Sprint ST.

My neighbor three doors down has a 2006 Rocket III and a 2005? Bonneville America. He previously owned a Trophy.

My neighbor across the street has a 2004 Tiger. Before that he had a 1970 Bonneville.

We've all had good experiences with Triumph bikes.

I don't know if I am ready for a Rocket III, that just looks insane. A 2.3 litre with a flat powerband. I like the American and the Thunderbird though.

You can't go wrong w/ a Triumph. Victory is worth looking at, they have some bad azz cruiser-type bikes, are American made, actually perform, and you won't see them all over the place.

Victory Motorcycles: Touring, Cruiser, Muscle, V-Twin & Wide-Tire
